China dedicated a TV station which runs for 24 hours nonstop and guess what it's showcasing? It is showing how Japan dealt with them during their troubling era.
Now let's come to Nigeria: do you know that there are people up to the age of 30 that do not even know of the Biafra War or the corresponding Pogrom that was orchestrated for over 30 months on a group of people within a specific geo-location whom till date are somewhat living in denial of that very event that cost major c@sualties?
The story of why we f0ught and the heroes that fought or even the reasons why it was declared "No Victor, No Vanquish" is yet to be inducted into the common curriculum of the pupils.
Now my question becomes: you as an Elder-Statesmen, what effort have we made to reiterate the woes of our past to the Minds of the Younger generations?
Or do we want to pretend as if the Biafra w@r never happened?
Have anyone asked why the history of the events of the war that cost more than 3 millions lives are not taught in school?
Have any organized Lawsuit been lodged to contest the verdict that annulled the teaching of Biafran history from all school curriculum?
If I said that NBA of Igbo extraction is to be held accountable, you all may presume I'm chasing clout but can you tell me the dexterity with which I would hold them on a very high esteem when matters of such had been overlooked repeatedly?
I ask again, what level of trauma is still traceable in our bloodstream as it's obvious that we are offsprings from a "CONQUERED S***M".
Why are we so Afraid to even challenge issues that does not seat well with us as a people.
When the former Military HOS Gen. IB Bangida said openly in his book that it was not an Igbo coup as it had been labeled, what lawsuit had the NBA of IGBO EXTRACTION filed for reparation if not for anything, for the DEFAMATION OF CHARACTERS of these people who identify as Igbos worldwide.
The number of people displaced during these Pogrom period is yet a statistics that we don't even want to know and yet someone somewhere is trying to crucify whomever who decided to speak up for the people.
What measures have we taken as a people to defend that which is indigenous to us as a Race?
How have we preserved our heritage as a people?
The fact that Igbo language and other Indigenous languages of the Defunct Biafra people which includes Efik, Ibibio, Idoma, Igala etc cannot be mandatory for higher institution admission is a complete pointer to the utter disregard to the preservation of indigenous people affairs.
Kindly ponder on these few reasons why I said that the NBA of Igbo extraction has not really done their best in all fronts.
May we not loose ourselves in search of ourselves.
