🇰🇷 Word of the Day: 잠깐만 / 잠깐만요 “Wait a moment” / “Hold on” / “Just a second”

Breakdown:

* 잠깐 = briefly, for a moment
* 만 = only / just
➡️ Together: “just a moment”

Usage:

* Casual situations (friends, texting, everyday speech)
* When you need a quick pause
* Add 요 → 잠깐만요 to sound polite

Examples:

지난 주말에 영화를 봤어요

I watched a movie last weekend.

Vocabulary Breakdown
• 지난 = last (past)
• 주말 = weekend

Examples
• 매일 – every day

💡 Tip:
Just add 매 before many time words to express “every.”

Korean Verb: 도착하다 📍
Meaning: to arrive / to reach a destination

도착하다 is used when someone arrives at a place or when something reaches its destination (for example: a person, flight, or package).

Examples (English → Korean)

1️⃣ I arrived home.
➡️ 집에 도착했어요.
• 집 = home
• 에 = destination particle
• 도착했어요 = arrived (past tense polite)

2️⃣ What time did you arrive?
➡️ 몇 시에 도착했어요?
• 몇 시 = what time
• 에 = time particle

3️⃣The package arrived.
➡️ 택배가 도착했어요.
• 택배 = package / delivery
• 가 = subject particle

4️⃣I arrived in Paris three days ago.
➡️ 삼 일 전에 파리에 도착했어요.
• 삼 일 전에 = three days ago
• 파리 = Paris
• 에 = destination particle

⏳ How to Say “Ago” in Korean

In Korean, “ago” is expressed with 전에 (jeon-e).
You attach it to a time word to show that something happened in the past.

Structure:
[Time] + 전에 = [time] ago

✨ Examples (EN → KOR)

• 1 hour ago
→ 한 시간 전에

• 3 days ago
→ 3일 전에

• 1 week ago
→ 일주일 전에

• 2 months ago
→ 두 달 전에

• 1 year ago
→ 1년 전에

🗣 Example Sentences

• I met my friend 3 days ago.
→ 3일 전에 친구를 만났어요.

• I started studying Korean 2 years ago.

You can use 전에 with any time expression:

✨ Korean Connector: 그리고 ✨

“그리고” means “and / and then” -it’s used to connect sentences or add more information.

📌 Basic idea:
👉 Sentence 1 + 그리고 + Sentence 2

💡 It’s like saying “and also…” or “plus…”

📝 Examples:
1. 저는 커피를 좋아해요. 그리고 차도 좋아해요.
→ I like coffee. And I also like tea.
2. 오늘은 비가 왔어요. 그리고 바람도 많이 불었어요.
→ It rained today. And it was also very windy.
3. 숙제를 했어요. 그리고 영화를 봤어요.
→ I did my homework. And then I watched a movie.

🚨 Tip:
Use “그리고” to smoothly add ideas — but don’t overuse it in every sentence!
