It is often overlooked in conversations about career development and equity and the time to act is now before the industry loses more strong community members.

Join MPC at SOCAN HQ for a story‑driven panel at this year's The JUNO Awards. The panel pairs three publishers with a songwriter/producer from their roster to spotlight how creative publishing relationships work in the real world. The conversation will center on creative alignment, trust, and momentum: how publishers discover and sign talent, what “development” looks like beyond the first release, and how teams create opportunities through collaboration, writing rooms, camps, pitches, and strategic planning.

Congratulations to our CEO, Margaret McGuffin, for being named one of the Top 100 Lobbyists of 2026 by The Hill Times. This could not be a more well-deserved recognition. Margaret advocates tirelessly on behalf of publishers, copyright protections, and the entire music industry and we couldn't do what we all do without her. A round of applause for Margaret!

MPC was delighted to work with JETS Initiative (Junior Entertainment Talent Slate) as they launched a new element for composers. MPC hosted four Canadian composers (Alex Petkovski, Cris Derksen, La-Nai Gabriel & Steph Copeland) at the Berlin event this week.

The group was invited to pitch their work to a group of filmmakers, international funders, and industry experts from Germany, Ireland, the UK, Australia, and Canada. Each composer also composed a bespoke music cue for one of the participating film projects. Throughout the two days, the composers had the chance to network and make key new business contacts. Congratulations to Alex and Cris on their awards.
