Celebrate the power of film and community with our friends at ! The 23rd Annual Regent Park Film Festival runs November 27–30, 2025 — and all their programming is FREE, and free childcare is available onsite.

We’re thrilled to co-present Between Rituals and Return, a shorts program screening on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the Central YMCA (20 Grosvenor Street).

Between Rituals and Return reflects on how spirituality, land, and memory shape our understanding of self in today’s world. Through recitation, prayer, and dreams, these films reveal the endurance of faith as both labour and solace. Spanning Sudan to Palestine, Burma to Toronto, the stories illuminate faith, grief, and belonging — and the power of resistance and remembrance in the search for meaning amid loss, conflict, and displacement.

Dhaka Night by Shebonti Khandaker

A tactile, filmic meditation on the pulse of the city after dark — a choreography of light, movement, and memory.

Shot on Super 8, Dhaka Night unfolds in grain and glow: night markets shimmer with fruit and fish, neon signs bleed into shadow, and the air hums with motion. Each frame is both documentary and dream — a tender archive of urban intimacy.

Presented in the Trinity Square Video vitrine (main hallway, 401 Richmond St W), this silent installation invites close looking.
To experience the full soundscape, scan the QR code on site and let Dhaka’s nocturnal rhythm unfold through image and echo.

On view: Oct 18 – Nov 18
