As we know, International Holocaust Remembrance Day is an international memorial day on 27 January commemorating the tragedy of the Holocaust that occurred during the Second World War.
During April 2019, I had the honour of attending in Rwanda Kwibuka 25, the 25th commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi. Kwibuka is the Kinyarwanda word for Remembrance. To say the least, for me it was an emotional and draining experience, not unsimilar, I suspect, to those of you who attended Holocaust memorial services earlier this week.
On my return to Toronto, I wrote an Opinion piece for The Toronto Star. This is a good time to share it once again with you.

Alan Simons attended the deeply moving 25th anniversary commemoration of the genocide of Tutsi’s and saw a country focused on its future while also acknowledging its violent past.
