CASTING CALL: Toronto/GTA film actors.
Short indie film: She Keeps Me
Union
Paid (TIP rates)
Principal photography: August 31-Sept 2 2019
Please send a headshot/reel to [email protected]

Casting the following roles:

ALESSANDRA MORANO
Character age: 21
Playing age: 20-29
LEAD
Physical characteristics: Must pass as Italian / Italian-Canadian.
*Must be able to speak with a slight Italian accent.

Alessandra is an Italian-Canadian living with her mother and sister in the suburbs of Ontario. Although she is intelligent, funny, and creative, she has been living in her sister’s shadow her entire life. Alessandra is the peace-keeper, the “rock” of the family. But she’s been relied on for too long, and now longs to leave and pave her own way in life.

MARIA MORANO
Character Age: 45
Playing age: 40 - 60
LEAD
Physical characteristics: Must pass as Italian.
*Must be able to speak English with a STRONG Italian accent. Bonus if Italian-speaking, but not necessary.*

Maria is Alessandra and Lena’s mother. Born in Italy but migrated to Canada when she was a child, Maria is a single mother, very soft-spoken and well-meaning, but fiercely independent and has her own life outside of being a mother to her two daughters.

SIMONE
Character Age: 22
Playing age: 20-29
LEAD
Physical characteristics: Must pass as Italian.
*Must be able to speak English with a STRONG Italian accent.

Simone is a friend of Alessandra’s, and Lena’s by proxy. She is loud, opinionated, and a little bit scrappy. She has good intentions, but sometimes has a hard time understanding other people’s feelings.

JEFF
Character Age: 22
Playing age: 20-29
SUPPORTING
Physical characteristics: Must pass as Italian / Italian-Canadian. Jock-type.
*Must be able to speak with a slight Italian accent.

Jeff is kind of an Italian “bro.” He’s also Simone’s side-kick -- he does whatever she does, and loves whatever attention he can get from her. Jeff’s morals are questionable. He’ll do anything to get a laugh.

SEB
Character Age: 23
Playing age: 20-29
SUPPORTING
Physical characteristics: Must pass as Italian / Italian-Canadian.
*Must be able to speak with a slight Italian accent.

Seb might sound like he’s from the same world as Simone and Jeff, but he feels like he’s “different” or “weird.” He has always had a crush on Alessandra, but she’s never cared for him in that way. Seb feels loyal to his friends, because outside of them, he doesn’t have anyone else.

*Please no DMs. Send a headshot + demo reel or other material to [email protected]*
