Online gaming has become extremely popular in Nepal and has grown into a massive industry, with millions of people, spending billions of rupees across various games, every year. However, the industry is largely unregulated, with little to no government oversight or laws governing it. What this basically means, is that the people involved in online gaming, especially as players have little to no protection against online gaming platforms. In this video, we will talk about online gambling and most specifically about a Fantasy Gaming app that was recently launched in Nepal.
According to Section 125 of National Penal Act 2017, it is clearly stated that "No person shall gamble or cause gambling.". Additionally, it has given clarity on what exactly can be considered under "Gambling".
Explanation: For the purposes of this Act,-
(1) "gambling" means a game or process of any type to be so played by betting as to gain, lose or win
any kind of movable or immovable property or return, on the basis of contingency, and this term also includes any betting or waging so made by one who does not gamble himself or herself as to gain or lose any movable, immovable property or return depending on the win or loss of others.
