Yesterday, Friday April 19 at 4:05pm, my dear friend (mentor and former lover) Doctor Helga Kuch left this world to enter the Spirit World.

Helga was a psychiatrist who practiced from her home on Richmond St. near Portland for over 40 years before moving to Barrie, Ontario where she lived with her partner and love of her life, Actor and Singer, Jeff Jones. Jeff passed away just over 2 years ago and Helga was lost without him. But she stayed strong, moving back into her condo after realizing that a retirement home wasn't for her.

Helga loved music, especially jazz. And she loved life, literature, art, humanity, animals (especially cats). And she was brave, brilliant and beautiful! Over our 6 years together, she became a part of my family, who all loved her dearly.

Through her practice, she helped countless people, struggling with issues ranging from s*x changes to couples counseling, grief counseling and the gamut of mental health disorders. And her patients loved her.

Helga had suffered a severe stroke the previous week and from that point on, she was ready to call it a day.

Helga's last days were at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, where she was attended by her dear friend Gwen, caregiver Chelsi and myself... Until yesterday.

Her wishes were for no public celebration of life. But please raise a glass and toast her, as she makes her way to the Great Beyond.

Helga will be remembered and treasured. She had an amazing life. And now she rests in peace...

Thanks Helga, for all the good you've done and for all the wonderful memories.
