Mayor Olivia Chow awarded the Key to the City to legendary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, honouring his decades-long creative bond with Toronto. In partnership with Cinespace Studios, the Marine Terminal campus sound stages are now officially named the "Guillermo del Toro Stages" as a tribute to his extraordinary contributions to Toronto’s screen industry.�

“Toronto has been a second home to me and my creative endeavors... I am deeply grateful to Cinespace Studios for this recognition, and to the Toronto film community for its unwavering support,” said Guillermo del Toro in his acceptance speech, where he also credited Canadian Film Centre (CFC)'s legendary founder Norman Jewison as one of the inspirations for joining the CFC board.
