Hey folks, 'Paid In Full: The Battle for Black Music,' this cool new documentary series I worked on about the historic injustice suffered by the music industry’s Black artists, will have its world television premiere on CBC and BBC on September 21. This show features many legends, including Smokey Robinson, Chaka Khan, and Nile Rodgers.

Hats off to equally impressive production teams led by executive producers Greg Sanderson for Supercollider, Julie Bristow for Catalyst, Idris Elba for Green Door Pictures, Sabrina Elba for Pink Towel and series producer Guy Evans.

πŸŽ‰ Another trip around the sun, and I'm feeling grateful for the many blessings life has bestowed upon me! 🌞 My journey has been enriched by my wonderful family, amazing friends, business partner and the incredible experiences I've had on this beautiful planet we call home. From my days as an elite basketball player to my current role as a film director and producer for over 20+ years, each chapter has shaped me into the person I am today.

As I celebrate another year of life (and maybe getting a little younger πŸ˜‰), I've been reflecting on what truly matters to me. I've found myself becoming more intentional about where I invest my energy and time. Respecting the precious time of others has also become a top priority for me, and I believe that being prepared is a way of honouring the gift of time that we've been given.

I've also come to recognize storytelling as one of my superpowers. It's a gift I cherish deeply, and I'm committed to nurturing my creative instincts through dedicated practice, self-love, and the occasional well-deserved rest.

Moving forward, I've resolved to direct my energy away from futile battles against systems, individuals, or circumstances that diverge from my vision or aim to sideline me. Rather, I'm dedicating myself to constructing pathways and extending invitations for collaboration, fostering connections that align with my aspirations.

This birthday, I'm giving myself the gift of growth, maturity, and the realization that life is too short to dwell on negativity. While none of us knows what the future holds, I firmly believe that loving and honouring ourselves is the key to finding true happiness and peace. Here's to embracing the journey ahead with an open heart and a renewed sense of purpose. Cheers to another year of growth and endless possibilities! πŸ₯³πŸŒŸ I hope to see you!
