Hollywood North Film Awards

Hollywood North Film Awards Bridging Canadian and international independent cinema, the HNFA rewards visionary filmmakers with awards of excellence and distinction.

01/27/2025

The Hollywood North Film Awards is saddened to announce that it will be taking a hiatus due to economic pressures.

For over 8 years, our annual awards have proudly celebrated the best of Canadian independent cinema, from short films to features, fiction to documentaries. We pushed through COVID-19 and pivoted to an online celebration, and we kept our resilience through the longest joint union strikes since the 1960s. Coming out of those crises has now caught up with our organization, and it is with a heavy heart that we take this time to reevaluate our priorities.

This decision was not made lightly, and we are deeply grateful for the filmmakers, supporters, and audiences who have been part of this journey. While this chapter comes to a pause, we hold onto hope for a future where we can once again spotlight the incredible talent of Canadian independent filmmakers.
