"Loved this book! I especially was fascinated by the story that connected the sections of the book written by Altaire Gural. Her writing made me want to cheat and skip ahead to the next section so I could read the next part of the story, rather than wait and read the story parts in the order the editors wanted them read. In the end, I read it the proper way once, and then went back a second time and read all of the parts with no gaps between them. Fascinating story line and characterizations that make you think! All of the stories were enjoyable, but Ms. Gural's was definitely my favorite."

This month celebrate Women's History by reading about the historic women of Kawartha Lakes, like Molly Beall Reilly (1922-1980):

Born Moretta Fenton Beall on February 25, 1922 in Lindsay, Molly wanted to joint the Royal Canadian Air Force as soon as she graduated high school in 1939.

The RCAF refused her application.

She went on to become an award-winning pilot and the first woman to fly professionally in the Arctic and the first woman in Canada to be promoted to the rank of Captain.

This month we're looking at the word MARCH found inside Forgotten by A. Gural:

Cecily is mutinous. “I cannot learn under these conditions. Tamsin stole my toast. I’ll not eat a morsel.”

“Morsel’s a good word,” Jane notes, still reading.

Miss Beale glances skyward, breathing deeply and composing herself. Patience of Job and all that. “Cecily, is it wise of you to reject any nourishment at all?” she asks.

“Yes, Miss. Someone has stolen the nourishment of my spirit, and so I reject the nourishment of the physical. I cannot have one without the other.”

“I am certain that no one has stolen your toast,” Miss Beale counters.

Cecily throws the piece of toast she does have directly in Tamsin’s face. “Did you hear that, No One?” she says. “You stole my toast!”

As Miss Beale marches Cecily out of the dining hall, Sarah turns to me. “We could at least tell Miss Beale. You were talking to someone.”

This month celebrate Women's History by reading about the historic women of Kawartha Lakes, like Dr. Olive Rea:

Olive Maud Rea was born December 11, 1878 in Lindsay and grew up in Ops township. Her family was descended from Reaboro's founder and namesake, Thomas Rea, who came to Canada in 1820.

She was the first woman physician to establish a practice in Kawartha Lakes, and it was located right on Kent Street West in Lindsay.
