Riding an illegal e-scooter without insurance is not a small technicality, it can become a life-changing financial problem. 🛴

If you are uninsured and speeding, and you hit a pedestrian, you can be personally liable for the damage. ⚠️

And the kicker is, being uninsured can also limit your ability to sue, because the law is not designed to reward risky behavior. ⚖️

Insurance exists for the “you never saw it coming” moments, not the “I rolled the dice” moments. 🧾

Bottom line: if something goes wrong, you could be left paying out of pocket with fewer legal options. 🚑

Modding an e-scooter can turn into more than a “performance upgrade,” especially when lithium batteries are involved. 🛴

When you change the scooter’s design or power setup, you can strain the charging system and motor, which increases the risk of overheating and fires. 🔥

Mixing and matching batteries or chargers from other units is another big red flag, because incompatible parts can lead to serious incidents. 🔌

Buying used? Be careful, especially if it comes with missing pieces like the charger, because that can be a sign the scooter was stolen. 🧾

Protect yourself by asking for a bill of sale and checking for a serial number before you buy. ⚠️

Bigger, faster e-scooters are easier to spot than people think. 🛴

Police and personal injury lawyers often look at the basics first: the model, plus the scooter’s size and weight. ⚖️

Some scooters are a dead giveaway, like the Razor 9000 with a 1000‑watt motor and speeds up to 68 km/h. ⚡

And if there’s a serious injury or fatality, that’s when things get examined more closely, including engineering analysis. 🧠

Smaller “cheap” scooters with minor tweaks might slide under the radar until someone can quantify the speed, and then you can be dealing with real legal and liability issues. 📋
