The founder's hangout has been a lot for me. Apart from being a session where people come to learn, it has also been a learning moment for me as I have gotten a lot of business nuggets from my guests.

I am aware that there is a sense of belonging wherever more than a person is gathered to disseminate knowledge. It has always been about impacting and an avenue to better ourselves. I have learned from all the guests, and I am still learning.

On Friday, I will be hosting Julz Ossom. He is the Founder and CEO of Clothing by AIM. And an executive director of AIM 2 Impact and President of African Music Week.

The style of “Woara” is anchored in the Palm Wine variant of Highlife which was popularized by artists such as the legendary Koo Nimo. The track features Highlife guitar great, Ackah Blay and Ghanaian beat maker Wei Ye Oteng. “Woara” is the third video off of Rocky Dawuni’s critically acclaimed EP “Voice of Bunbon, Vol. 1” which has been submitted to the Global Music category for GRAMMY consideration.

: This one is for the Toronto kids.

It’s for the children of people who immigrated to Canada or the US or the UK, looking for opportunity for their families. This one is for us.

Every step of my career, people told me “it” would never happen. People said they’d never take Canadian artists seriously...so I kicked down the door and broke down the fences and the city ran through and we HERE now. They said being a senior level black executive would never happen in Canada-but here I am signing incredible domestic AND international artists and figuring out ways to continue to build an infrastructure that respects and cherishes artists who create music that WE love.

This one is for the kids that will grow up and aspire to not only be global superstars, but now who will have aspirations to be executives within the biggest corporations of the land and beyond. Cheers to all my comrades and mentors who have normalized, encouraged, and demanded greatness from me. I will continue to push the boundaries and help eradicate the fallacies of the industry.
