👉🏼 https://eestielu.ca/jareltuleva-polvkonna-heaolu-nimel/

Just neid teemasid uurivad VEMU peagi avatavad näitused Tartu College'is, Torontos.

Homme, 3. juunil on huvilised oodatud Toronto südalinnas asuvasse eesti kogukonnakeskusesse Tartu College'isse, kus esinevad nii näituste koostajad kui ka mõned peategelased.

Loe lähemalt siit ja tule avamisele: https://eestielu.ca/et/tartu-collegeis-avatakse-kanada-eesti-lastele-ja-noortele-puhendatud-naitused/

„Kanadas kasvanud. Lapsepõlv ja noorus Kanada eestlaste mälestustes“ näitus on toetatud Haridus- ja Teadusministeerium poolt.

Social media poses serious risks to youth. Governments are debating whether the appropriate course of action should involve banning minors from accessing these platforms altogether.

As new research from Interface shows, Europe's debate on online harms is moving away from this binary and towards harmonizing its efforts in line with existing regulation. Only a small handful of member states remain on the fringe of these discussions—including Estonia.

How social media platforms cause harm and why Estonia still says banning young users is not the correct approach. 👉🏼 https://eestielu.ca/as-eu-countries-debate-approach-to-social-media-bans-estonia-still-says-no/

For some Torontonians, Doors Open Toronto is the best weekend in the calendar of city events. Even a continuous cold downpour couldn't ruin it.

There's something unique about how it allows you to be a tourist in your own city, especially when it means visiting architectural gems that are usually locked away from the public.

We took in a number of reflections and photos from participants 👉🏼 https://eestielu.ca/doors-open-is-torontos-best-weekend-even-when-youre-soaked-by-rain/

Locker key secured. Phone away. Robe on. Let the Nordic sweat bathing rituals begin...

We visited a "Little Piece of Finland" in Ontario called Vettä Nordic Spa. The facilities feature wood-burning saunas (like the massive Harmonia room, pumping out serious heat from two big stoves), salt scrubs, various pools, and restaurants with authentic Karelian dishes.

Get a sense of what's on offer, the presentation of Finnish and broader Nordic culture, and what an Estonian might feel taking part in a wellness day such as this. 👉🏼 https://eestielu.ca/escape-to-oro-medonte-if-you-need-a-nordic-sauna-day/

Estonians are active cultural collaborators wherever you find them. We're looking at a collaboration with a musician from a neighbouring country... well, alphabetically that is!

Thanks to an introduction from Estonian-Canadian art director Linda Turu, we got to know the story and music of Ethiopian jazz saxophonist Girma Woldemichael. What we found was a story of resilience that feels close to the stories of the Estonian diaspora.

Discover how Woldemichael survived the Red Terror and defected to Canada during a tour, where he drove a taxi for three decades to support his family. At the same time, read the review of his recent album release concert, the music of which made music journalist Nicholas Jennings say that the saxophonist is “one of Toronto music’s best-kept secrets.”

Following a landmark year of recognition from Eesti Kultuurkapital and the Estonian Music Council, Estonian-Australian electronic musician Olev Muska ( olevmuska ) has concluded an intense five-week tour across Estonia and Latvia.

The residency featured high-profile showcases at Tallinn Music Week and Tartu’s Genialistide Klubi, alongside the release of the LP My Mouth Sang, My Heart Sank, via Glitch, please. The new album sends out an electronic reimagining of Veljo Tormis’ arrangements, focusing on kindred Baltic and Finnish folk songs.

Read about Muska's community engagement through lectures, audio-visual creations, plus what's on the horizon for him around the world. 👉🏼 https://eestielu.ca/olev-muska-takes-on-tallinn-music-week/
