HAPPY RELEASE DAY ⚡BANGER ALERT⚡
Stereo Ferment regular, Dacou teams up with label newcomer Sarv to deliver a heady new EP with two sultry, SWANA-inspired chuggers.

Currently only available on bandcamp đź”— in bio.

Equal parts spice and speed, this collaboration takes its title from the Levantine instrument that serves as a thematic backdrop - combined with pulsating bass lines and disco driven drums to elicit a sweeping club energy whilst maintaining traditional undertones.

The A-side, “Haroun” takes the ancestral melodies of Sarv’s Palestinian heritage and drives them into a trippy boulevard of mijwiz notes, weaving a serpentine path through hypnotic grooves and psychedelic flourishes.

On the B-side, “Suruna”, Dacou doesn’t shy away from the spacey out-to-lunch arpeggiated bass and acid wriggles that have become a mainstay of his productions. The subtle and intense contrasts of the zurna culminate in a frenzy of rumbling dips and dives that reside in the darkest depths of the hard Italo bedrock.

Cellar Sessions episode 31 is now available for streaming!
We're super stoked to have our friend .cn.man of the on this month's selection duties.
Perfect energetic, but breezy mix to get you going for the summer 🌞

Tune into our SoundCloud page. Link in bio

About the mix:
Like many, I’ve been captivated by the retro-futurist corporate surrealism of Severance - a show where 80s-inspired office aesthetics collide with existential dread. This mix is my homage to the “Music Dance Experience” scene in the Defiant Jazz episode - a burst of unhinged joy that pierces through sterile monotony.
Imagined as a fan-fiction artifact, this is the mixtape Mr. Milchick might’ve compiled in a forgotten lifetime. Inspired by Tramell Tillman’s electrifying and largely improvised performance of that particular scene, the mix threads together glimmers of a self once free: retro, acid, cosmic, jazzy, playful, ecstatic…

BOOK DOOF 04 - Artist Spotlight:
The Low Bar Bugle is a monthly smattering of god knows what! We rely heavily on reader submissions; personal opinions and interviews, personal recipes (sometimes for things like "dog s**t cookies" or "Gor-May noodles"), rants, raves, reviews and oh my god so much ADVICE. The Low Bar Bugle was inspired by Coffee Time News and Easyrider magazine but was truly borne of a desperate need for a collective live music listings resource.

It was founded in November, 2024 and has since donned a million hats in it's 7 issues since. The latest has a dice-rolling songwriting prompt template, some ham radio info, some poetry from a mom, and so much more! The best part is- its always silly and its always free- distributed randomly but always available at  1426 Bloor St. W open 4pm - 2am every single day! We'll read everything you send and publish whatever we please.

BOOK DOOF 04 - ARTIST SPOTLIGHT:
Goldtooth is a creative platform based in Toronto that publishes The Moment, a zine designed to deepen how audiences engage with music and storytelling. Each issue is curated around a central theme, pairing playlists with visual content to create immersive, multidimensional experiences. Rather than consuming media passively, readers are invited to explore the emotional and cultural layers that music can unlock. The zine is distributed in both physical and digital formats, making it widely accessible while encouraging tactile engagement - something that is lacking in this algorithm-driven age of music.

Pick up a copy for yourself this Thursday June 5th from 8pm till late.

Bio
Mecha Maiko is an experimental electronic project by Toronto-based Hayley Stewart. Her productions as Mecha Maiko run the gamut of electro, industrial, synthpop, and beyond, singing about everything from feeding fishies to resisting fascism. Her last album, NOT OK, received a nomination for Electronic Album of The Year at the 2023 Juno Awards. She’s a current member of the trip-hop trio Hyperlink Dream Sync, and co-owner of Right Click 2 Download, a forthcoming electronic label. After a brief hiatus, she's slated to release music again... soon.

Her mix for this edition of Cellar Sessions is a choose-your-own-adventure story that follows a trail of cocktail umbrellas deep through the jungle, past neon-lit signs whizzing by on a bullet train with its own glitched-out alien arcade. Finally, we debark and step into a Queen West basement party where a tear in the fabric of time populates the dancefloor with hipsters, hip hop heads and goths from the eighties to the aughts. We abandon all labels and surrender to pleasure and absurdity.
