Debbie Deer Productions (DDP) is a production company est. in 2011 that specializes in music video, commercial and film production.

We also specialize in Theatre production, graphic design and branding. In addition, DDP showcases and promotes Debbie Deer's various artistic projects within the multimedia field including her work in Film, Theatre and Graphic Design. The objective of Debbie Deer Productions is to translate our passions and skills to the world and to introduce a platform for forward thinking, media artisans whose aim it is to create riveting productions via the multimedia arts.

Led by Debbie Deer, award-winning Creative Technologist and founder of Orion Digital Inc., this session invites artists and community members to explore the transformative and risky landscape of emerging technologies.

About the Facilitator (Debbie Deer)

Debbie’s work as CEO of Orion Digital Inc. and Debbie Deer Productions centers African-diaspora storytelling, ethical AI, and future-forward creative skills building through immersive XR experiences, from The Nefertiti Experience to Tech A Jump: An Immersive Carnival Experience. Her practice is dedicated to helping Black artists move from subjects of extraction to architects of our own narratives.

Guiding Questions

• What does ethical AI use look like for Black artists?
• How do we protect our stories, archives, and IP in an AI-driven world?
• How can we use immersive tools to reclaim narratives rather than lose them?

As a Creative Technologist and Afrofuturist, I’ve seen where our ancestors, in very many ways prepared us for adaptability. Whether it was pyramids, predictive calendars, Adinkra codes or cane row hairstyles, secretly depicting the road to freedom, we found ways to advance and innovate.

I’m excited to be sharing talks and webinars on this topic soon!
