For years, Africa existed in my mind as a place I knew from books, stories, and history.
Born in Jamaica and raised in Canada, I grew up understanding Africa from a distance much like many others in the African Diaspora.
Then I traveled to Ghana.
I thought I was simply visiting another country.
What I found was something much deeper: a connection to a part of myself I hadn't fully known was missing.
It wasn't the beautiful landscapes, historic sites, or cultural experiences that stayed with me the most.
It was the feeling of being there.
For the first time, I experienced a sense of belonging where I wasn't defined by the color of my skin or viewed through the limitations of race. I was simply recognized as a human being with dignity, respect, and worth.
That experience didn't just change my perspective on Africa.
It changed the path of my life.
And that is what inspired me to build The Gold Pill Group.
We are not simply creating travel experiences or selling vacations. We are creating opportunities for members of the African Diaspora to return, reconnect, and rediscover their relationship with the continent while exploring its culture, heritage, communities, and emerging opportunities.
Because Africa is more than a place on a map.
For many of us, it can be a pathway back to ourselves.
