PRESS MINI pays tribute to Robert Wilson — visionary set and lighting designer, visual artist, and founder of The Watermill Center — who passed away peacefully in Water Mill, New York, at the age of 83.

Renowned for his pioneering work across theatre, opera, installation, and visual art, Wilson remained deeply committed to creation until the very end. His artistic language, marked by striking visual compositions and meditative pace, reshaped the possibilities of performance art for generations to come.

From avant-garde stage productions to monumental drawings and video portraits, Wilson’s legacy lives on through The Watermill Center and beyond — a testament to his unrelenting pursuit of beauty, silence, and meaning.

Memorials in his honour will be announced in the coming weeks, in places that held personal significance throughout his extraordinary journey.

Renowned Hong Kong artist, producer, and cultural innovator Danny Yung will speak at the Vancouver Art Gallery this afternoon in a retrospective conversation spanning more than fifty years of practice in experimental theatre, installation, crossdisciplinary collaboration, and cultural policy engagement. Yung’s work is internationally recognised for challenging artistic boundaries and inviting public dialogue across cultures, VERY!
