The conventional wisdom says Gen Z doesn't listen to radio. The data is more interesting than that.

According to Edison Research's 2025 Gen Z Audio Report, 𝗔𝗠/𝗙𝗠 𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟭𝟲% 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗭'𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 — ahead of podcasts and SiriusXM combined.

Among 13 to 17-year-olds, 10% cite AM/FM radio as their top music discovery source. (Radio Ink)

The youngest listeners are still finding music through radio.

If you're building a long career and not just chasing one demographic, that matters.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗜𝗬 𝗖𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴: There's a ceiling on what you can do alone. Most indie artists hit it and don't realize that's what happened.

You can record, distribute, post, and promote — and still not move the needle, not because the music isn't good but because 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀, none of them as well as a specialist would.

A 𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗿 knows programme directors by name. A 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘀𝘁 has relationships with media contacts. A 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 knows which venues are right for where you are in your career.

These aren't luxuries. They're how you break through the ceiling.

Andrea will be the first to tell you she has no talent whatsoever. Her words.

She can sing well in her car when she's alone. That's about it.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱, a genuine love of music, and twenty + years of 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 when she hears something that deserves to be heard.

She's not in this to perform. She's in this because she's a great appreciator and a great encourager — and because 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗹𝗱.

That's why she only takes on music she believes in. If she's working your record, it means something.

𝗦𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗡 distributed a record $512.4 million in royalties to music creators and publishers in 2024.

That money goes to registered members whose music was performed publicly — on radio, at venues, on streaming platforms, on television.

We've been with 𝗝𝗮𝘆 𝗞𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 from the beginning of his country career — and watching this one unfold has been something else.

Here's the backstory: Kutcher is the country alter ego of Jérôme Couture, a Jonquière-born singer-songwriter with a jazz degree from Université Laval, two ADISQ nominations, a SOCAN Classic to his name, and over a decade of visibility in Quebec through La Voix and major musicals. He's been writing for other artists, performing to full houses, and building a career the long way.

A few years ago he started making trips to Nashville. New country clicked in a way nothing else had. He launched his self-titled mini-LP to a packed Théâtre Plaza, "Another You" landed in the 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟰𝟬, and "Whiskey Kinda Guy" climbed to #𝟰 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘂𝘀𝗫𝗠. Three nominations at the French-language Gala Country 2024 followed.

His new single is "𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗿?" — and yes, it's exactly as catchy as it sounds.

We're working it to Canadian Country Radio now. This one sticks.

𝗗𝗮𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗪𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 has been doing this a long time — and she's just getting started.

Singer-songwriter. Performer. Vocal coach. Session singer. Mentor. Band leader. Mom. She wears all of it, and she doesn't slow down for any of it.

New Year's Eve 2023 she played to 10,000 people in Churchill Square in Edmonton. She's been tapped twice as a backup singer for the band 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼. Her single "Still Waters" picked up a Josie Award nomination for songwriting in Nashville.

And now she's got a label deal with Skyrocket Records and a full rock album, 𝙋𝙝𝙤𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙭 𝙍𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜, dropping in October 2026.

The fourth single off that album, "Light of the Phoenix," is being worked to 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 right now — and it hits exactly the way the title suggests it should.

We're proud to be working this one. Welcome to AM to FM, Dahlia. Dahlia Wakefield

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 "𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆" 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿.

Ready usually means: enough streams, enough followers, enough buzz.

The problem is that radio promotion is part of how you build those things — not something you do after.

You don't have to be famous to get on Canadian radio.

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹. That's it.

Nothing ever happens overnight.

But waiting until you feel ready is how careers stall before they start.

Well would you look at this! 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗼 & 𝗟𝗼𝗲𝗯 𝘅 𝗝𝗥𝗗𝗡'𝘀 “𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗻” is the second most added song at radio this week – and 𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 #𝟭 most added at HOT AC.

First radio campaign. Never been on commercial radio before. And "Spin" lands on the 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗖𝗛𝗥 chart, wins 𝗶𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿 Hot AC & CHR, 𝗥𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵, and gets added to SiriusXM.

That's what happens when the music is ready, the team believes in it, and nobody stops pushing.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗼 & 𝗟𝗼𝗲𝗯 this one was a long time coming and completely earned.

Still kicking ass with this song five months into putting out to radio!!!

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲. 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆.

70% of listeners find new music through radio.

Not through algorithms deciding they might like something. Through a music programer who heard your track, believed in it, and put it in the rotation.

One SiriusXM spin pays $44 CAD. College radio listeners — 72% of them — are actively looking for music they haven't heard before.

These aren't small numbers for an indie artist.

𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀.

𝗚𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗼 didn't discover music. He was born into it.
His mom and uncle opened 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 in Toronto in the 1980s.

By the time Gianni arrived, the bar was already legendary — and he spent his childhood surrounded by cigarette smoke, loud rooms, and musicians who meant it.

He and his brothers eventually started performing together, sharing stages with 𝗔𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀, 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗿, 𝗦𝗮𝗺 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀, and 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸.

Now he's doing something different. One new song on the first of every month, April through December 2026. 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀. 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀. 𝗔 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽.

His first single, "𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚," is being worked to 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 right now — and we couldn't be more behind it.

Welcome to AM to FM Promotions, Gianni. This one's going to be fun.
