ACTRA Toronto at continues tonight with the world premiere of IN THE HEART OF THE SOUTH!

Described as what SINGLE WHITE FEMALE would be if it were set in Toronto, with an Inuk protagonist and a dash of supernatural elements, it stars ACTRA Toronto Member Anna Lambe from NORTH OF NORTH.

The film also stars ACTRA Toronto Performers Jefferson Brown, Katharine King So, Sera-Lys McArthur, Tara Nicodemo, Alexander Nunez, Ellora Patnaik, Robert Ramsay, Star Slade; and Stunt Coordinator Jason Gosbee.

ACTRA Toronto at kicks off tonight with the Opening Night Film BEING HEUMANN!

Each year, hundreds of ACTRA Toronto members come together to honour the accomplishments of the labour movement and claim our place within it.

This year was extra special for us because we have officially launched our campaign for Status of the Artist legislation in Ontario.

We made our demands clear.

On Monday, I was honoured to join fellow labour leaders and share our vision for greater rights and protections for the creative working class.

Thank you to all the ACTRA Toronto performers who joined us and to the Toronto & York Region Labour Council for hosting ACTRA Toronto.

ACTRA Toronto is calling on the Government of Ontario to pass meaningful Status of the Artist legislation, and today our Members made their voices heard LOUD at the Labour Day parade!

Thank you to all the Members who marched with us today! Extra thanks to Parade Committee Chair Mercedes Morris; to President Kate Ziegler, Paul Constable, Jinny Wong and Victoria Brooks for cheering us on along the route; to marshals John Cleland, Elana Dunkelman, Amy Matysio and Roy Urbanozo; and to everyone who helped make today a success.

But our fight doesn’t stop here. We want Members to add their names to our Status of the Artist Now! campaign and together, let’s tell the Ontario government that performers deserve meaningful collective bargaining rights and fair minimum standards.
