Recently ACTRA Toronto Members were asked to share their experience with auditions for film, television and commercial work to help the union better understand what members are experiencing in the current audition environment – what’s working, what’s not and what needs to change.

More than 1,100 members took part in the survey - THANK YOU! Members told us a lot, and this feedback will help guide the union’s advocacy, negotiations and policy work as we continue to fight for fair, safe and respectful audition practices.

Thank you again to all members who participated in this important survey.

📣 Victory for human performers! 📣

Amazon has pulled its AI anime dub after fans and performers pushed back. A clear reminder that authentic performances still lead the way.

We welcome every streamer choosing real talent over shortcuts. More of this, please.

ACTRA Toronto was working for our Membership until the very end at the Ontario Federation of Labour convention!

Unfortunately we ran out of time to present our Gig Economy Protections resolution, which encourages the Government of Ontario to establish a Creative Cultural Worker classification. The resolution is now being sent to the OFL executive board for consideration. Creative Cultural Workers face precarious employment, lack income stability, benefits and pensions. So to the Ontario Federation of Labour and Ahmad Gaied : let’s pass resolution 75 and protect gig economy workers!

Hear from delegation members Mercedes Morris and Yasmeen Seif about this important resolution.

We wish to sincerely thank Mercedes, Yasmeen plus Elana Dunkelman and John Cleland, the ACTRA Toronto delegation at the convention, for their immense efforts in connecting, sharing and representing our Membership!
