🎬 Sabareesh Subramaniam Named Finalist for the 2025 Tasveer Film Fund

We’re thrilled to share that director Sabareesh Subramaniam has been selected as one of the 10 finalists for the Tasveer Film Fund 2025 with his short film pitch, “Threaded with Love.”

The Tasveer Film Fund is part of the Tasveer Film Market, held alongside the 20th Tasveer Film Festival — the world’s only Oscar-qualifying South Asian film festival.

Based in Toronto, is a South Asian filmmaker passionate about stories of identity and cultural roots. His recent works include the produced shorts Small Wishes and Dinner Party.

We at VFP are incredibly proud of Sabareesh and wish him the very best as he pitches this week at the Tasveer Film Market!

🎥✨ Tuesday is a very special day for Little Wings!

Our talented cinematographers Meenakshi Soman and the family of the late Saravanamaruthu Soundarapandi, along with the film’s director Naveen Mu, will be at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, to proudly accept the National Award for Best Cinematography (Non-Feature Film).

We’re incredibly honoured that will be celebrated on this prestigious stage, among India’s most respected dignitaries, government officials, fellow honourees, and beloved film icons. 🌟

was my 13th festival in a row! Between all the hustle I was reflecting on how many different roles & POVs of I’ve had over these past 13 years…

From starting out as a marketing intern excitedly greeting celebs on the red carpet, to intro’ing & moderating films across festival venues as I worked there full time, to hosting guests, to returning as an emerging filmmaker & entrepreneur of my own on the industry side of things with to now attending as a proud Producer of a winning film… that young intern had no idea what was in store 😅

We’re proud to celebrate Meenakshi Soman, one of the two brilliant cinematographers behind the National Award-winning Little Wings.

A graduate of the prestigious Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Meenakshi brings a bold, emotionally resonant visual style to every frame. Her work on Little Wings was integral to the film’s lyrical, grounded aesthetic—helping bring our world and characters to life with authenticity and grace.

Since 2020, Meenakshi has contributed to feature projects across Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Manipuri cinema. Her debut as lead cinematographer on a Hindi indie film is set to release in 2025. Recognized as one of IFFI Goa’s 75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow in 2021, she continues to push boundaries through the female gaze and her commitment to stories that reflect India’s rich diversity.

We’re so honoured that is part of her growing legacy.

We are deeply honoured to accept the 71st National Film Award for Best Cinematography (Non-Feature) for “Little Wings” in the name of Saravanamaruthu Soundarapandi, one of the two brilliant cinematographers behind our film.

Saravanamaruthu, who sadly passed away in 2023, was a gifted DOP who hailed from the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata. While at SRFTI, he worked on films in many languages including Malayalam, Marathi and Hindi. He had a distinct eye for naturalism and emotion—qualities that defined Little Wings, his third short film as a DOP.

We are incredibly proud that his legacy lives on through this national honour. His work continues to move audiences, and we know this recognition would have meant the world to him.

Thank you to the Jury for recognizing his artistry. This award is dedicated to Saravanamaruthu and the timeless beauty he brought to our screens. 🕊️🎥
