Classic Ali Hazelwood. It was funny, there were shenanigans, and it was totally bingeable. The mystery and reveal of the Tamryn dynamic, the Mayageddon; consistent snort-laughs, clever plotting, and the Sicilian setting make it the perfect summer read!

» I loved that their relationship started so innocently. Conor wanted to help Maya because her brother wasn’t available and was immediately consumed by her. The flashbacks showing how their relationship developed kept me invested.

Maya is smart, ambitious, and relatable. She’s clever and lives up to her nickname from Conor: Trouble.
Yearning, thy name is Conor. Oh, the way this man pines for her. The way he shows up for her even when she doesn’t know it- elite cinnamon roll behaviour.

🎙️Duet narration by Elizabeth Lamont and Eric Nolan
Elizabeth’s delivery of emotions is epically good! There’s a call during a flashback when Maya is crying and her stuttering the words out was perfect 👏 Eric’s gruff delivery for Conor was spot-on! Every time Maya pulled Conor’s strings, I could feel the exasperation through his reactions and I loved it!

Oh, that slow burn is sweet, delicious torture. The tension and will-they, won’t-they, kept me locked in. She makes us wait but it’s worth it! 🔥😮‍💨

✩ Maya’s relationship with Nyota is friend goals. Their banter is quick-witted and snarky; I loved everything about Nyota. I want to be her when I grow up.

♡ Loved this! If you like Ali Hazelwood’s usual blend of sharp, cutting banter as foreplay and agonising tension from a slow burn that makes you want to scream- this should be your next read.

Love him anyway, my good old boy.

He became our rent-free roommate in 2015. We adopted him from the Bradford RSPCA in Leeds, UK. Naturally, he speaks with a Yorkshire accent. Especially when he’s annoyed, like right now when I can only assume he’s thinking: Off you f—k, mate. I love him anyway. He’ll be back at bedtime for forced cuddles because as anyone with a cat knows- love is only acceptable when they deem it welcome.

Milana has some big secrets! She’s the black cat to Luca’s golden retriever personality but with that much trauma? I get it. She’s a talented concert pianist, layered, and cunning. I loved her.

They are perfectly matched. The fact she’s Luca’s dream girl personified (literally, it’s a whole thing) gives fated vibes.

The slooow burn is torture, but the payoff makes up for it. Luca ratchets the tension with sensual touches, innuendo, and a body that makes Milana want to give up her vow never to trust another man. Also: 🍆🪜, so again, add to cart 🛒 😮‍💨🫠

» THIS WAS A WILD RIDE. Escape plots, turf wars, dark web, more gasps than I can count- I was locked in and I *cannot* wait to see how this all wraps up with Benedict in book 6!

✩ I love how some of the storylines run concurrently. Seeing events from different POVs adds so much depth! Each book starts with a recap which is elite author behaviour! 👏

♡ Sophia delivers another banger! Perfect if you love angsty mafia/ bratva romance with tangled storylines that will keep you up way too late. Satisfaction and HEA guaranteed!

✦This was not what I expected, but in a great way. I was expecting (obviously) a s*x-positive guide to exploration of intimacy, but I was pleasantly surprised that it leaned more into the spirit and radical self-acceptance pieces.

Don’t get me wrong- it does explore intimacy in the physical form, but not before encouraging you to identify and examine your values, needs, desires and boundaries.

✦She participated in a study using fMRI technology to qualify decades of her own experience and teachings which proved that ecstasy does not need to be reached by physical means alone; she’s able to “think-off” (yup, you read that right) by aligning her energy. It seems wild without reading how she achieves it, but I found it compelling, and because the fMRI proved it, I trust the data.

✦There’s a lot that resonated with me. She discusses hard topics like, what happens when ecstasy feels out of reach? There are many reasons why this may be the case- celibacy (chosen or not), illness, age, etc., and how to change the narrative so you can get there. I liked how affirming and inclusive it was.

» Her writing is clear and accessible; the content is easy to read, compassionate, and relatable with plenty of real-life examples.

Bringing characters from Peter Pan to a different version of the story where Hook’s villain origin gets a modern twist. It’s not a re-telling, and Hook is still very much a villain, but this will put you in your “dibs on the villain” era.

I was hooked from the start; the title doesn’t lie.

Wendy and Hook were fun to read. They fell into each other quickly and despite Hook’s trying to convince himself she is a means to an end, I couldn’t help chuckling at how wrong I knew that was.

I enjoyed my eyeball and earball reading experience. It always brings the story to life for me, and Rupert and Felicity’s voices were well-matched to the characters.

✦Spice: Open door
Hook is Wendy’s first and he treats it with reverence. He’s obsessed with her and even though his plan is to ‘throw her away’ when he gets his revenge, it’s obvious she means more to him than he’s willing to admit. I felt their chemistry and I loved how he couldn’t resist caring for her.

✩ This had several twists! A few I saw coming, some I didn’t and I love a good 𝘨𝘢𝘴𝘱!

♡ I blew through this because it was a fun, easy read. I liked the modern twist on an old classic even though it’s not strictly a re-telling. It’s a great entry-level dark read if you’re not quite sure how dark you want to go.

✦Spanning a little more than a year between late 1966-1968, Caroline is an heiress socialite living the jet-set era life. She meets Jack “Tex” Fairchild, a photographer with Life magazine in Acapulco and their whirlwind romance begins. Settings span the globe while Caroline struggles under the weight of expectations of a woman from upper social class and wanting live on her own terms.

✦Caroline is more layered than I expected at the start; her growth over the story felt believable. She starts as a “vapid” socialite but stands up for herself with Tex’s love and support, a novel concept given the time. Give a gal the right conditions and she’ll bloom.

✦They have instant chemistry with a poolside meet-cute in Acapulco. Their romance was beautiful to watch unfold- my heart! They communicate and respect each other; she doesn’t want to be kept, and he wants her to be more than she believes is possible for a woman of her social class. Fade-to-black with steamy suggestive scenes.

✦Liz Locke paints vivid pictures making each setting stand out. Dropping the ‘60s rich and famous in the background is a nice touch, tying the era in.

» I adore epistolary elements! Caroline’s letters to her father add emotional depth and insight to how she processes her emotions and struggles and celebrates her wins.

✩ Caroline’s besties Daphne and Billy were ace! Loyal, funny, and supportive; total friend goals.

♡ It’s beautifully heartfelt, nostalgic, and delivers a good dose of feminine rage and resistance. Highly recommend!
