Before the end of Toronto’s trolley bus era, the TTC turned to Edmonton for help. 🚎⚡

In 1990 and 1991, the TTC leased 40 trolley buses from Edmonton Transit System to help keep service running as Toronto’s aging fleet became increasingly unreliable. These unique coaches were GM “New Look” Fishbowls equipped with electric trolley hardware built by Brown Boveri — giving them the classic Fishbowl look with quiet electric operation.

The Edmonton buses became a memorable sight for transit fans across Toronto. While the TTC officially announced the end of trolley buses in 1992, the leased Edmonton coaches continued operating until July 16, 1993 — marking the final day of trolley bus service in Toronto.

A fascinating final chapter in nearly 50 years of TTC trolley bus history. 🇨🇦

Here comes a post from Robert Lubinski.

" With the demolition of the McLaughlin Planetarium in the news I came across this slide of 7244 on Wellesley 94 on Queen's Park Crescent with the planetarium in the background. I don't recall the date exactly but I think it's from January 2000. "

A 1990 view of Dundas West Station. Featured are some CLRVs on 504/505 and a E700 trolley bus on the 40 Junction route

This clip comes from an old VHS tape filmed by Ron Carson which I digitized using a VCR and some conversion software.

We are back from our trip to Vancouver and Seattle. It's been a long time since I last rode Skytrain and I honestly loved getting to experience it. A very interesting system, with technology that was developed right here in Ontario.

Here are a few scenes I took during our visit.

We took a ride on the West Coast Express to Pitt Meadows, where our friend Eva took a video of our train arriving at the station.

Train E1 was lead by a former GO Transit F59PH locomotive, how appropriate for us!

Bill MacDonald filmed some TTC subway car action at the Davisville Station Area in 1986. Seen here are some Hawker Siddeley built subway cars.
