Around 6am this morning, Valley-Kemptown & District Fire Brigade, Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia and Emergency Health Services - EHS had a call of a man who was calling for help who had been in a crash but was not 100% certain he knew the exact location.
With some searching and use of cell phone geo-locating his area was calculated and he was found soon after.
He had been there for a bit and was happy to see the first responders who came to help. Despite the car being on its side, he was able to stand inside and wait for rescue to come who freed him soon after.
He was assessed by EHS and was in great shape despite the bumpy ride.
We are happy his outcome was good and want to thank all those who were there to help!

I bet former Ride members just wait for this moment!
Excellent timing with Cst. Teed on shift.
Maribelle was in good hands.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia

On May 22 at approximately 8 a.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to an unexpected commuter – a large brown horse trotting right down the middle of Kinsac Rd. toward the school in Beaver Bank!

Officers quickly tracked down the owner, who explained that during morning feeding time, her adventurous mare, Maribelle, had made a surprise escape and couldn’t be found.

Thankfully, Cst. Teed was on the case – and let’s just say, this wasn’t his first rodeo! With past experience in the RCMP Musical Ride, Cst. Teed was the perfect person for the job.

Sure enough, Cst. Teed located Maribelle safe and sound, casually grazing in a nearby baseball field. He escorted Maribelle back home, bringing this early-morning roundup to a happy ending.

Great work!
Colchester County District RCMP has charged two people following a kidnapping in Bible Hill.

From Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia:
On May 27, at approximately 10:20 a.m., RCMP officers responded to a report that a man and a woman had abducted a man known to them from a home in the 100 block of Vimy Rd. and were travelling in the Bible Hill area in a silver Hyundai Elantra. Officers immediately began searching for the car.
The RCMP’s Critical Incident Program, including its Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Air Services, were dispatched to assist.
At approximately 10:55 a.m., RCMP officers observed the Elantra on Hazel Dr. but lost sight of the vehicle in traffic as it proceeded along Pictou Rd. toward Main St.
As the search for the Elantra continued, officers noted a motorcycle at the Vimy Rd. property.
At 11:10 a.m., Truro Police Service officers observed the motorcycle travelling on Park St. in Bible Hill with two occupants. Officers stopped the motorcycle and safely located the kidnapping victim, who was riding as a passenger. It was learned the motorcycle driver had assisted the victim and was not involved in the kidnapping. The victim had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
At approximately 11:20 a.m., RCMP officers located the Elantra parked behind a home in the 200 block of Main St., Bible Hill, and began surveillance.
At approximately 12:55 p.m., a man and a woman were safely arrested by ERT as they exited the residence.
Upon arrest, the man had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound that occurred prior to police involvement. He was transported to hospital by EHS with life-threatening injuries.
Stephen Joseph “Dakota” Maloney, 34, of Halifax, and Macquel Lynn Weatherbee, 37, of Lantz, are both charged with Kidnapping. Maloney is also charged with Failure to Comply With a Probation Order and Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited.
Maloney was remanded into custody and is due to appear in Truro Provincial Court on June 1. Weatherbee was released with a scheduled court appearance on August 19.
The investigation, including the circumstances surrounding Maloney’s gunshot wound, is ongoing. It’s being led by the Colchester District RCMP General Investigation Section.

Lee Andrew MacDonald, 49, of Bible Hill charged with murder.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia
Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit (NEN MCU) has charged a man with murder in relation to a suspicious death in January 2025.
On January 3, 2025, at approximately 9:30 am, Colchester County District RCMP responded to a home on Bomber Dr. as part of a wellbeing check and located a deceased 42-year-old woman. The woman’s death was considered suspicious and NEN MCU took lead of the investigation. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service then ruled the death a homicide.
At the time of the wellness check, officers also located an unconscious man in the home. He was transported to hospital. The man was later identified as Lee Andrew MacDonald, 49, of Bible Hill.
On May 26, 2026, after an extensive investigation, officers safely arrested MacDonald at a residence in Bible Hill. He is charged with Second Degree Murder and had a first court appearance on May 27 at Truro Provincial Court. He remains in custody pending future court appearances.
The investigation has been supported by Colchester County District RCMP, Truro Police Service, RCMP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service. There is no evidence to suggest this homicide is an incident of intimate partner violence. Investigators appreciated information from the public that helped bring about this arrest.
Our thoughts continue to be with the woman's loved ones at this difficult time.
