If there is any way that you can help the Wilson family, who lost their home today in Belmont today, I am sure they and their community would greatly appreciate it.
From the page: On the morning of Jan 25th their beloved home was lost in a horrific fire. They made it out safely with only the clothes on their backs.
Their home was not just a home it was the heart of Belmont, 120 years old. It was a place to visit for a hug, a smile, a meal or just a chat. A lifetime of love taken from them.
David, Gail and Trish are the salt of the earth. They would do anything for anyone and now it's our turn to help them.
Any donation would be welcomed to help them through this difficult time.

I'm writing on behave of Gail, David and Trish Wilson. On the morning of Jan 2… Becky,Cory and Sky Rushton needs your support for David, Gail and Trish Wilson

Today just after 9:20am Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade was called to a residential structure fire. Upon arrival they were met with a quickly growing spread into a legacy home which are often more challenging due to balloon construction style. Several Colchester Fire Services were called to fight the fire and to supply water via tankers. The Valley-Kemptown & District Fire Brigade aerial was still warm from its Tatamagouche Fire run so it assisted at this scene. Eventually, as it grew it made going inside untenable for safety and in order to access the very hard to get to fire in the upper levels, an excavator was used to open the home and get to the fire.

Once in a while this occurs and is a last resort but clearly necessary in this case. Well over 50 members and countless apparatus fought this for about 7 hours or more. They have just cleared.
This represents a significant loss to a well respected and liked family so we wish to acknowledge the impact. All got out safe.
One of the remarkable advantages of small communities such as this, is the connections each has. Lt Blayne Turner simply contacted his father and when needed walked over and grabbed (Blayne is a skilled operator ) the excavator to do what needed to be done under the guidance of Chief Muise.
Additionally, because the home was so close to the tracks, the porta tanks were setup within metres of the tracks and CN and DC Currie were in constant contact so as to allow tankers to have priority over trains if necessary. That CN notified Deputy Chief and would stop the trains to allow tankers to get to the porta tanks with loads if required. Great cooperation and support.
We are thinking of the family at this time and hope the Firefighters can get some needed rest after their cleanup.

Colchester Fire Fighters Association Level 1 Firefighter training kicked off with several intro modules this past weekend.
We want to say how much we appreciate the time committment this represents for all of this 2025 class.
This small exercise emphasizes clear communication by building something using lego only by using radio communications.
What we also find very inspiring is that there are several experienced firefighters including at Captain and Chief level who are taking refresh training this year. That is true leadership and value in training modelling by all levels.
Thank you to everyone!
