Halfway through this pregnancy, we decided to shift gears.
We’ve never found out whether our babies were girls or boys in the five pregnancies prior, but after a conversation with our son at the dinner table one night, we knew this time would be different.
My cousin was also pregnant at the same time and we shared the news with the kids that they were having a baby girl.
Our son excitedly asked, “oh, they already had the baby?!”
“No, she’s still pregnant.”
“Wait, then how do they know what it is?” Our son asked.
Valid question! We realized that our kids didn’t know you could find out the baby’s gender ahead of time because we had never done it.
We explained the ultrasound process and Jack, the eldest of all sisters, calmly retorted…
“Guys, I’m going to love this baby no matter what. But don’t you think it would be a good idea for me to have a little time to process if it’s a girl?!” 🤣
Fair enough, Jack.
Despite having incredibly close bonds with his sisters, he has been praying for a brother for years.
Last year, we had a son, but he went directly to Jesus. A heartbreaking loss for us all, especially Jack (although he has the most precious connection to his brother Michael in Heaven 😭).
We chose to find out at our upcoming appointment and just share with our family.
When we found out we were having another sweet sister, I was admittedly nervous to tell Jack.
But I should have given our son more credit, because his response completely blew me away 🥹
