Icelandic interlude: Days 4 -6
Crew split: 3 made it to camp, Rob and I left behind until the next available flight; twice a week from Reykjavik to Qaqortoq. Good thing though because we are bringing the “fasteners”. Nails, deck screws, bolts, drill bits. It’s all in the details.
Highlights: the Perlan Museum, our tour of Summ, and the Irish Well, marked by a weathered vertebrae from a right whale. And the food. In Toronto, we ate our garnishes because we knew what was coming – nothing fresh. Here, on the interlude, we eat one meal/day. Prices are unmatched: $35 for ramen, $10 for a flat white. Revy, don’t get any ideas; you don’t look inexpensive yet.
Offbeats: the Eclipse Festival. Drove through an encampment of leftovers and new arrivals, straggling along the road between tents and the white boom box rave, still ongoing. A Euro version of Shambala. Enough said.
