Seven artists. One sold out listening room.

Last weekend these artists showed up, dug deep, and delivered their first Nashville-style songwriters round that hit us all in the feels.

A night full of grit, grace, and the kind of magic that reminds you why we keep fighting for our art. 🖤✨

What an incredible growing community of like minded individuals who came through our doors this year to deepen their craft and connect in community.

Another huge thank you to HippoSonic and the Yaletown Records team for building something that matters deeply to our artists and the Vancouver recording community and music ecosystem. Art is very much alive and thriving. Let’s keep up the momentum in 2026!

We are so excited to have Jeremy back to open our show on Saturday!

Jeremy West was born and raised in his Squamish Nation territory in North Vancouver. Jeremy is passionate about education, music, and culture. He has attended Capilano University gaining a diploma Early Childhood Care and Education, including Inclusive Needs certificate. Upon graduation he started teaching at a Child Development Center in his community. After a few years of teaching, he decided to go back to school for music. Jeremy did a year of intensive schooling; he gained a diploma in Recording Production and Business from Nimbus School of Recording where he worked as a Locker-room technician.

Jeremy would like his new skills in recording to help the First Nations communities to archive teachings of the past for current and future learners. Jeremy has worked off and on since 2011 at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre located in Whistler. This is where Jeremy learned more about Coast Salish and Interior Salish heritage and shared it with thousands of people around the world.

We can’t wait to hear what these Songwriters have to say about their songs and process. It’s one of our favourite formats. Each songwriter shares a song and then alternates for the round. 3-4 songwriters on stage at a time!! It’s so much fun.🤩

We have such an amazing line up of songwriters for our end of year showcase on November 29th. Come celebrate a year of songwriting with us at the legendary studios. Community, connection and celebration. What more could we ask for?

west.900 will kick us off with our land acknowledgment and a traditional song to open the evening and of course the evening will be hosted by founder .

You can expect door prizes, a bar and a 50/50 raffle to cap off the night. It’s going to be a whole lot of fun!

Songs From The Series

This is what happens when you give people safety, space and a tested process to work with. They show up and do some of their best work. When we found out Laryssa was going to release 2 of her songs from The Songwriting Series we literally jumped for joy. Most people don't see what goes on behind the scenes while making music. But we do. And it isn't always "Easy".

Holding space for artists or really humans to just be themselves takes something. I often say that the biggest gift you can give another human being is the gift of being seen and heard. That's what we do here at Yaletown Records. We see people and we lift them up so they can experience themselves as whole. This is where they shine.

Congrats Laryssa! We are so proud of you and what you have accomplished so far. ⁠We can't wait to see what you write next.

🔊We’re back baby!!!

Our next Songwriting Series starts Oct 6! Application form is now up on the website (and in our bio/linktree) for the early planners. For the procrastinators, welllllll it will still be there until the day before the workshop space permitting.

Looking forward to getting back in the studio for these. We have added an extra hour and 4 extra modules to the course as well on emotional intelligence for the artist. This one is going to be deeply generative on so many levels. 4 songs in 5 weeks for those of you who are new to our services. Intimate studio setting and feedback on your work as you go. This one is a game changer.

Must have some songwriting experience (think intermediate). If you are a beginner looking to get started send us a DM we do have a beginner course on deck for you pending more interest.
