The Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (CLEBC) We deliver the most reliable and practical, BC-specific legal education and information. General operations are funded from the sales of products and services.

The Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (CLEBC) is an independent non-profit society incorporated in December 1976. CLEBC is the most respected and most often relied upon source of continuing professional education for British Columbia lawyers and their support staff. goal is to develop an ongoing long-term relationship with every lawyer in the province. Everyone on our staff is eager to hear your comments and suggestions on how we can accomplish this goal. The Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (CLEBC) relies heavily on volunteer contributors from the legal community, who write the publications, present at courses, and act as members of editorial boards for publications. 💼 Thinking about moving away from hourly billing? Not so fast.

In this clip from the CLEBC course Small Firm Success: Strategy, Systems and Sustainability, Andy Yu (Clark Wilson LLP) joins course chair Allison Wolf (the Lawyer Coach, the Flourishing Law Centre) to discuss what lawyers need to know before adopting alternative fee structures.

They explore why flat fees, value billing, or contingency models aren’t one-size-fits-all—and how understanding your firm’s data, costs, and risk tolerance is key to making smarter pricing decisions.

Whether you’re running a solo practice or managing a team, this conversation offers practical insight into balancing profitability and client value.
