So many things have happened in the last year alone to justify them as a dozen separate posts. But I knew I would never get to it. So here’s a messy photo/video dump for you all.

Just over two years ago, I was introduced to the world of coffee by my friend 🐙☕️

He taught me about pourovers, and how I could make a great cup of coffee if I learned some of the basics and invested in the right tools (so affordable compared to how much I was spending on keyboards 😭).

This eventually became a daily morning ritual for me - one I can no longer live without. And it gave me a newfound appreciation and respect for my friends in the industry 🐙🙏

One day, my friend told me about a project he was working on - a new style of dripper. And about a year later, he showed me a prototype.

After creating that first prototype, he immediately set out to gather feedback from baristas, cafe owners, and coffee roasters. He wanted a product that would be used by people in the real world, with a seal of approval from top coffee enthusiasts and entrepreneurs.

And finally, he needed input from a newcomer that would represent the voice of a general enthusiast, so I took him up on the offer to try the dripper for a week. The dripper I tested was a 4th iteration prototype - a sign of his passion and commitment to making the best product he can offer.

Coming from a Hario V60, which I feel like I’ve had a lot of practice with, it felt really easy to make a good cup of coffee with my friend’s dripper. It took less time on average to brew, and I tasted notes I didn’t get from the V60 despite using the same beans. The built-in aeration “puck” definitely works. I could tell a lot of research, thought and effort went into developing this product.

I’m liking these new GMK boxes/trays, way more stackable now! I remember before the change some people were tossing them out, but I wonder if they are happy now 🤔 what are your thoughts on the change?
