Hi friends! With the current political landscape, I wanted to share the Canadian skin care and hair care brands I love. 💗

Shout out to these Canadian brands I use in my day to day.

🍁 I’m a big Harlow fan. I use their Toning Mist, Everything Oil and Hair Dew daily. Plus, they are all refillable! (I actually use more of their products but those three I use every single day). Made in Vancouver.

🍁.greenroom are my go to for shampoo and conditioner. I love that they have purple bars for my coloured hair! Victoria Company.

🍁 Facial Soap has been my go-to for years. A bar lasts me almost a year even though I use it daily. It’s gentle on the skin and I love the company! Based in Squamish - Indigenous Owned.

🍁 is a Canadian skincare brand with some of the serums I’m looking for in my 40’s including Vit C and Retinol. Toronto Company - Indigenous Owned.

🍁 is a low waste facial moisturizer bar shaped like a Gua Sha tool. It comes in the convenient travel tin and is especially great for liquid-free travel. Made in Canada.

🍁 deodorant is amazing. This was gifted to me at Christmas by my sister Claire. I just love the natural essential oils and how it feels on my skin. Made in Vancouver.

Look how excited I get about plastic free produce. 🤣 on Commercial Drive has been consistently carrying plastic free cauliflower this summer and it’s still there! I’m so into it.

I really do get excited about finding plastic-free produce that is always wrapped in plastic (like cauliflower and cucumber). And, it turns out, cauliflower even has it’s own natural packaging… its leaves!

Refusing to buy produce wrapped in plastic is one of my biggest recommendations for reducing waste in your home. It might not always be 100% possible if you are working with specific recipes or have picky eaters but for most of us, most of this time, this is a very do-able task that can make a significant difference in your household. We can even learn to make substitutions for those recipes and picky eaters in time.

Tip: farmers markets and produce shops are way more likely to have plastic-free produce than the big box stores!

Small stores can also make better choices (including ) to not pre-bag their bulk produce for easy grab and go option. Let us pick our produce without the plastic bags please! ❤️

Honoured that from .mag wanted to follow me around taking photos and listening to my story as I shopped low-waste near my home on Commercial Drive. 😍

Personally, it’s been a bit of transition to move away from Jarr Delivery/Nada for my household shopping and I know I’m not alone. Supporting folks who are looking for opportunities to buy groceries and other products with less packaging is always a priority for me and I’m happy I still have the opportunity to do that with ! ❤️

2. Order takeout in person and bring in your own containers. You’d be surprised how many restaurants are happy to accommodate your request!
