||•WE HAD IT BACKWARDS👇🏼

💭The more we think about this, the more obvious it seems...
.
But for most of our lives, we were taught to build things in completely the opposite order 😆
.
👉🏼Pick the career. Get the job. Build the income. THEN figure out what kind of life fits around it.
.
How much vacation do you get?
.
Where are you allowed to live?
.
What hours do you have to work?
.
How much flexibility do you have?
.
How much energy is left when the workday is over?
.
And then somewhere inside whatever is left, build your life.
.
Kinda wild when you put it like that, right?! 😂
.
Because what if we flipped the whole thing around?
.
💡What if you decided what you actually wanted your LIFE to look like FIRST... and then started building an income that could support THAT?
.
We wanted more time together. More travel. More mountains. More random Tuesdays outside. More control over our schedule. And now, as we’re about to become parents, the ability to be genuinely PRESENT for our family 🥹
.
None of that meant we didn’t want to work.
.
We just stopped believing work should get to decide what the rest of our life was allowed to look like.
.
So instead of continuing to ask how we could squeeze more LIFE into the vehicle we already had...
.
👉🏼We started asking whether we could build a better vehicle altogether.
.
One that could create income without requiring us to be in one specific place.
.
One that gave us more control over our time.
.
One that could grow beyond simply trading more hours for more money.
.
One that actually made sense for the LIFE we wanted it to support.
.
And THAT shift in thinking changed a hell of a lot for us 🔥
.
Because your income isn’t the destination.
.
It’s the vehicle.
.
And maybe instead of choosing the vehicle first and accepting wherever it takes you...
.
You decide where the hell you actually want to go first.
.
Then choose a vehicle capable of getting you there💥
.
Free will is kinda wild like that 😆✌🏼

||•DON’T WAIT FOR JANUARY👇🏼
.
September. October. November. December.
.
FOUR MONTHS🔥
.
💭And honestly, that’s a pretty damn good chunk of time to start making some different choices while everyone else waits for January to start thinking about theirs 😆
.
Because here’s the thing...
.
💡Next year is coming whether you make any new choices right now or not!
.
Spring. Summer. Another fall and winter will come.
.
And if nothing changes, there’s a pretty good chance not much changes, right?! 🤷🏼‍♂️
.
Same job. Same boss. Same couple weeks of vacation. Same financial limitations. Still daydreaming about the camper, the trail, that month away, the beach, the road trip... or whatever YOUR version of a life you’re genuinely fired up about looks like!
.
Not because you aren’t capable of creating something different.
.
But because different usually requires choosing different!💥
.
👉🏼And THAT’S really the point of these next four months.
.
Not putting LIFE on hold so you can grind harder until January.
.
It’s about getting ridiculously intentional about what you want your life to look like and then starting to make the choices that could actually get you there, NOW!
.
Learn something new. Start the business. Build another source of income. Pay down the debt. Make the investment. Take the first uncomfortable step you’ve been negotiating with yourself about for the last six months.
.
You don’t need to completely transform your life before January. You just need to stop standing still🔥
.
Because imagine entering next spring already moving...
.
Then summer rolls around and you’ve got more options. More control over your time. More money to work with. Maybe that trip isn’t sitting in your saved folder anymore... you’re actually on it! 🏔️
.
That’s the opportunity these next four months give you.
.
Not to just magically “arrive” but…
.
👉🏼To change your trajectory!
.
Because different choices create a different direction... and eventually, that direction creates a pretty damn different life!

||•YOU’RE ALLOWED TO PIVOT👇🏼
.
💭Kinda funny when you really think about it.
.
At some point, we start acting like the decisions we made years ago are contracts we’re obligated to honour for the rest of our lives 😂
.
But, why?!
.
I went to university, got the Environmental Science degree, spent the $60,000 getting it. Then went and worked in that field because, well that’s what I was supposed to do, right?🤔
.
I had the degree, I spent the money, I put in the years. So obviously I had to keep going and simply accept I was miserable, yeah!?
.
I was living day to day with a pit in my stomach, putting work before LIFE, and slowly realizing that the direction I’d chosen wasn’t taking me anywhere close to the life I actually wanted.
.
And eventually I had to ask myself...
.
👉🏼How much more of my life am I willing to spend justifying a decision I made years ago?!
.
So I changed direction!
.
💡I think there’s something incredibly simple in this story that we forget WAY too often…
.
You’re allowed to change your mind!
.
You’re allowed to admit something isn’t working!
.
You’re allowed to stop letting the time, money or effort you’ve already invested dictate what you have to do with the NEXT 10, 20 or 30 years of your life!
.
And no, that doesn’t mean recklessly blowing up your life every time something gets difficult 😂
.
It means being honest enough to recognize when the vehicle you’re using simply isn’t taking you where you actually want to go and being willing to choose another one!
.
Because just because a past version of you chose something… It doesn’t mean every future version of you has to keep choosing it!💥
.
Sometimes you really can just look at something and go:
.
“Yeahhhh... that’s enough of that.”✌🏼
.
Then start making choices that actually take you somewhere you’re excited to go!

ONE YEAR GOES FAST, DOESN’T IT!?🏕️
A year ago, you probably had plans. Places you wanted to go. Experiences you wanted to have. Goals you wanted to reach.
.
Maybe even a completely different life you wanted to build!
So here’s the question (maybe one you want to avoid🤪)…
If last August’s version of you could sit beside you at that campfire today would they smile and say,
“Hell yeah... you actually went for it.”💥
Or would they realize that another year quietly slipped by while life carried on exactly the same?👎🏼
👀 Here’s what we’ve learned:
Most people’s lives don’t change because of one massive decision. They change because of dozens of small ones.
.
👉🏼The uncomfortable conversation.
👉🏼The application you finally submitted.
👉🏼The trip you finally booked.
👉🏼The business you finally started looking into.
👉🏼The opportunity you finally gave yourself permission to explore.
👉🏼The realization that you’re really the only thing holding you back.
One decision leads to another. Eventually, you look back and realize your entire life has taken a different direction.
🏕️This campsite, this view, the flexibility Haley and I have to spend our summers (and any day of the year) free to do what we wish - none of it happened by accident.
It came from making a few decisions that felt uncomfortable at the time, scary, uncertain, but turned out to change everything!😅
So before next August rolls around... Ask yourself:
What decision would make next year’s version of you say... “Hell yeah... you actually went for it.”🔥

Call it whatever you want...
👉🏼 Adventure-maxxing!
👉🏼 Life-maxxing!
👉🏼 Making-the-most-of-your-time maxxing 😂
All we know is this...
We’ve never once looked back on a random Tuesday hike, a weekend that turned into five days, a last-minute camping trip, or an afternoon on the paddle boards and thought:
“Man... I wish we’d stayed home and got a little more work done.” 😅
The work will always be there.
The weather window won’t.
The people you love won’t always be free.
The seasons keep moving.
Life keeps moving.
So if you’ve built a life that lets you say...
“The adventure wins today.”
Take it ❤️

And if you’re not quite there yet, then that’s ok. Don’t forget that you’ve got the power to change it!👍🏼
