**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**
**Meta’s Censorship Silences Canadian Cultural Institutions**
[Vancouver, Canada] – [September 30, 2024] – Canadian Museums & Heritage, our organization advocating for heritage preservation and cultural education, is deeply concerned about the recent censorship of our content on Instagram. Despite sharing valuable and informative posts about Canada’s rich history and cultural heritage, Meta has inexplicably blocked us.
This censorship not only undermines our efforts to promote Canadian culture but also deprives millions of users of access to important historical and educational information. Even though we adhere to company policies, maintain a safe and respectful environment, and amplify the voices of thousands of cultural institutions across Canada, META has continued to censor our content without providing specific reasons. This lack of transparency prevents us from addressing what we believe to be unjust or correcting any potential shortcomings.
We urge Meta to reconsider this decision and prioritize the dissemination of positive and uplifting content. In the meantime, we invite our followers to continue supporting us on our page and group, and we encourage you to subscribe to our YouTube channel. By early November, we aim to launch the Canadian Museums website, which will include an intranet exclusively for museums and heritage organizations—a groundbreaking initiative that is much needed in Canada. We will keep you updated with more news soon.
Thank you all for your attention and support.
