Canadian icon Bryan Adams and sustainable outerwear brand Wuxly have teamed up once again for the launch of their third Bryan Adams Designed (BAD) Collection—a limited-edition, ethically made line inspired by life on tour and built for modern movement.

“I wanted to create something that was practical and keeps people warm without harming animals or the environment,” Adams says.

As with so many creative endeavours that naturally evolve from a hobby to a side hustle to a business, Bélanger gradually ramped up her knitting when people started asking where they could purchase her pieces. In this case, it was her eldest daughter’s friends who asked if they could buy the handknit clothing she was wearing. Bélanger started by photographing the items she made for her three young daughters—a cardigan here, a turtleneck there—and posting them on a basic website.

The made-to-order line of superfine alpaca garments and accessories from Belacaro has been a slow burn—and it’s by design.

Lamborghini has had a presence in Vancouver for many years, and recently the Italian automaker’s showroom reopened on West Second Avenue after an extensive renovation. The redesign means that the showroom has expanded by approximately 5,550 square feet, allowing for a wider display of Lamborghini’s growing range of vehicles.

“I think I’ve always been a better curator than designer,” says Kaelen Haworth, the founder and creative director of the Toronto concept store Absolutely Fabrics. She lived in New York City for 15 years before returning to her hometown of Toronto and opening the Queen West retail experience in 2023.

Arriving in Toronto, Haworth felt there was space in the market for something a little bit different.

Toronto-based Absolutely Fabrics is an artful environment that spotlights burgeoning designers alongside established brands.

Centuries ago, European fishermen learned to preserve their catch with salt, transforming soft-fleshed cod into a substance as hard and pale yellow as the sole of an ancient mariner. Think of Scottish kippers, Scandinavian gravlax, the contentious anchovies on a pizza. It’s hardly surprising that salt has always been highly valued to the point where its Latin name, salus, became the root of the word “salary.”

An inside look into how people harvest sea salt.

“On really romantic evenings of self, I go salsa dancing with my own confusion,” says Speed Levitch in Richard Linklater’s 2001 animated surrealist film Waking Life.

The line is a poignant metaphor for the dance between our minds and souls. When we are pulled into the depths of ourselves, what do we find? As we’re faced with it, the muddled chaos of our loneliness is disarming at first. But there’s a magic to being comfortably alone.

But the art of being alone walks a fine line between purposed solitude and reclusive isolation.

Rhubarb has been around for ages. First known in Asia around 2700 BC and introduced to Europe around the 14th century, rhubarb was once a highly valuable commodity costing more than rare spices like saffron and cinnamon.

FROM THE ARCHIVE: Somewhere along my route to becoming a gardener, I’d heard that planted rhubarb crowns wilted and died if you moved them.

The Beatles didn’t just change music. They rewrote the way men present themselves, onstage and off. Even when they were made Members of the Order of the British Empire for their artistic contributions, they joked that it was in part because British-made working-class corduroy, also known as Manchester cloth, was elevated to high fashion so successfully that it boosted sales.

The style of the Fab Four.
