ACE 5 IS HERE! Netflix and the Animation Career Excelerator (ACE Canada) Society have announced the launch of the 2026 ACE Canada Program, welcoming its fifth cohort.

The program— an immersive career accelerator for mid-level women, non-binary, and Two-Spirit animation professionals across Canada—provides mentorship, advanced training, and hands-on experience as they write and produce an original short film, earning participants a key creative credit. 🕷️ Meet Charlie Lee, Lead Animator for Spidey and His Amazing Friends.

☀️What is your typical day like?

My workday starts with checking email for any new notes or announcements, followed by meetings, completing reference shots, and helping other animators as needed.

💻 What's it like working for Atomic?

Working for Atomic is great. While I work primarily from home, I really enjoy the sense of community and the people I get to work with.

🎓 What school did you attend, and what did you study?

I went to Capilano College (now Capilano University) to study CG animation back in 2003.

🧳 What do you do when you're not working?

When I’m not working, I like to go on walks around Vancouver, and I’m continuing with learning French by taking classes. Also, my wife and I are collaborating on a graphic novel; she is writing the novel, and I am doing the art (a first for me, so it's exciting!). And, if I am able to, I love travelling.
