As independent filmmakers, we hold a special place in our cinematic consciousness for independent movie theatres. They’re special places run by true lovers of cinema. The Hollywood 3 Cinemas in Pitt Meadows is set to become a dollar store apparently, something the community doesn’t need. As an economical alternative to the pocket-gouging Cineplex down the road, Hollywood 3 provides great value and old-school movie-going charm. It would be a shame to see this community hub lost to time and greed.

THE FOUNDER EFFECT will return to Africa later this year at the Algiers Film Festival in Algiers, Algeria, taking place from December 4 -10. The film was previously screened in Nigeria. Great to return to this dynamic continent!

THE FOUNDER EFFECT will head into the Bitlis Five Minaret International Film Festival in Bitlis Turkey as a Semi-Finalist! BFF offers a cultural feast that blends traditional with modern, sharing stories from different geographies through art and cinema, with an aim to support young talent.

We had a great evening supporting our pal Henry Bartak at the VA Entertainment Pitch Fest ceremony, where his submission received Honourable Mention. A fantastic celebration of filmmaking and storytelling.

We’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Henry as an actor and a friend these past few years. He portrayed Chief Chuck Patterson in our recent film THE FOUNDER EFFECT. Be sure to check out his autobiography ‘Why Not Me?’, available on Amazon. It’s a great story of perseverance.

With 17 years under its belt, Festival Angaelica celebrates independent filmmakers, screenwriters, actors and more, connecting visionary artists in unique settings through pop-up events and screenings, pairing outdoor adventures with fine theatre screenings, workshops, and panels.

This annual showcase highlights award-worthy independent movies and celebrates them accordingly. The IFGA aims to bring a community and voice to independent filmmakers, screenwriters, and content creators worldwide.

Our mission is to create next-level creative content. From film to the page, we seek to enliven palettes and to deliver a degree of aesthetic to our subjects not elsewhere found.

Roguescots was founded in the summer of 2015 as a creative-collective between brothers. It serves as a platform to bring ideas to life both on-screen and on the page. Through in-house production, alliances, and partnerships with others, Roguescots primary drive is to deliver exceptional content across a spectrum of mediums and to endeavour to tell stories heretofore untold.

Justin has been making films since he was a child. After enrolling into film school in Vancouver, Canada, he realized he was already ahead of the curve. At the advice of his film department’s head, he dropped out to pursue his own projects. Cashing out the education fund his parents had saved for him, he funded his first independent feature, The Generations, which garnered him further work in music videos, short film, documentary and commercial work. His body of film brought him to the attention of Greg Sestero, of The Room fame, who asked Justin to direct his on-screen reunion with Tommy Wiseau, Best F(r)iends, which will release in the spring of 2018.

Kristopher has always been rooted in creativity, dabbling in the performing arts and writing, but had never taken it up in a professional sense. In 2015, he quit his job in banking to become Justin’s full-time producer, and the two have been working together ever since. Under the egis of Roguescots, Kristopher has served as producer, and written three novels. He joined the Best F(r)iends team along with Justin, as co-producer.
