Check out this month’s magazine covers (designed by Lou O’Brien and Pique's Jon Parris), capturing everything from growing threat of the Western spruce budworm in the region's forests to 100 hours of biking in Park City.

Before the pedestrian scramble and late-night crowds, Granville and Robson was already buzzing with activity in the 1920s.

These archival photos reveal Vancouver's vibrant downtown core in the making, reminding us that even a century ago, this corner of the city was full of movement and momentum.

Ian Smith knows great leadership comes from empathy, not ego.

After moving from Newfoundland to B.C. to begin his career, Ian grew through the ranks across Lodestar’s brands, contributing his digital marketing savviness and open-minded perspective to every challenge.

Today, as VP of Lodestar Digital, he focuses on creating space for continued growth and experimentation.

“I’ve held many of the same roles my team has now. That matters—I know what they’re up against and how to support them,” he says.

For Ian, a solid team is all about having a shared mission. “If we know the vision and understand each other’s personal goals, we’ll move forward stronger.”

When Ian’s off the clock, his dog Toast runs the show. Between writing and playing guitar, Ian can usually be found exploring the outdoors, following where Toast leads.

With more than two decades in media, Matt is now the GM of Lodestar’s PLAY Division, where he’s leading a new era of lifestyle media, one that doesn’t just report on community life, but is actively part of the culture.

“We’re building something that feels local, lives digital, and leads with values,” he says.

When chasing bold new ideas, Matt leans in and leads with a people-first mindset, which he no doubt gained from his time chasing outdoor adventures through more than 50 countries.

His vision for PLAY? Create lifestyle brands that feel real, rooted, and ready for the future.
