NEXT WEEK ON QUEERFM🎙️we kick off our festive spirit with a special interview with a much loved Canadian Indie music artist PLUS a show filled with seasonal holiday tunes by your fave q***r music artists! 🌟🎄🎶

Kele Fleming (she/they) is the distinct love child of Linda Perhacs and Ani DiFranco. She’s 70’s psychedelic, feministic, intelligent- quoting Darwin and Foucault mid song.

Kele Charted at #1 three weeks running on the New Q***r Canada Music Charts, has been featured New Yorker Magazine, and is a proud member of the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community.

Her music reflects potent and important protest songs that rage against our indifference and apathy. Kele’s music accumulated over 1 million listens on Spotify, and despite that and amidst a number of likeminded musicians, Kele quit Spotify in protest of the platform’s link to military development and it’s payola schemes.

Kele’s music is perfect for discerning and open-minded crowds, who have a taste for authenticity and a pallet for the truth. Kele’s single ‘This Is Not Religious’ was released in November and you can reach the artist on their website www.tinforest.com or via their Instagram at

NEXT WEEK ON QUEERFM🎙️…

김새로미, ROMI KIM (they/them) or SKIM (he/him) in drag is a nonbinary, trans masc, second-generation Korean interdisciplinary artist, drag king, filmmaker, and founder of KING SIZED, a drag king focused show in Vancouver.

Romi’s artistic approach is characterized by a playful, DIY-inspired methodology that invites audiences to ponder the intricacies of identities and their construction. With a keen focus on complicating the notion of a singular q***r racialized identity, Romi challenges the mainstream narrative while giving space and visibility to trans and racialized identities.

Kim holds a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia (2022). They have screened their video work at Seoul Indie-Ani Festival (2019), Vancouver’s Q***r Film Festival (2023) Polygon Art Gallery (2021), SUM gallery (2023) and Vines Festival (2020). Their work aims to think through affective belonging and placemaking as potent avenues for creating meaningful connections.

Their YouTube series LONG LIVE KINGS is a fascinating look into the past, present and future of the Drag King scene in Vancouver.

In the face of anti-trans legislation and increased threats to q***r expression in Canada, the U.S., and around the world, the Long Live Kings web series is a joyful, irreverent, and timely celebration of q***r and trans community and expression.

NEXT WEEK ON QUEERFM🎙️…

SHANI MOOTOO (she/her) writes fiction and poetry. Her novels include her latest STARRY STARRY NIGHT, and Giller Prize shortlisted Cereus Blooms at Night, and Polar Vortex.

Her books of poetry include Oh Witness Dey! and Cane | Fire. She has been awarded the Doctor of Letters honoris causa from Western University, is a recipient of Lambda Literary’s James Duggins Outstanding Mid-Career Novelist Prize, the Writers’ Trust Engel Findley Award, and The National Library’s Library and Archives Scholar Award.

Her latest work, STARRY STARRY NIGHT is revelatory work of autofiction about family secrets, trauma, race, class, and loss. In Starry Starry Night, Mootoo gives us the singular voice of Anju Ghoshal, a young girl living in 1960s Trinidad. Through Anju’s innocent and clear-eyed observations, the reader becomes both a witness to and a participant in her negotiations of an unexpectedly new and complex life, spanning from the ages of four to twelve.

Shani lives in Southern Ontario and you can learn more about the Author on their Instagram at

NEXT WEEK ON QUEERFM🎙️…

COBY FRIESEN (he/him) is a writer and filmmaker based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

He’s been into film for as long as he can remember but it wasn’t until he left theatre school and began writing his own scripts that he realized he wanted to create films of his own.

After years helping friends on their shorts in various capacities, participating in 48 Hour Film competition several times, and working on union sets around the Winnipeg film scene, Coby decided to submit to Gimli International Film Festival’s RBC Pitch Competition in 2022. He didn’t win, but gained valuable experience and most importantly, it spurred him to make his debut short film Hook Up, which screened at the 2023 Vancouver Q***r Film Festival and won “Top Emerging Director” at the Reel Pride Film Festival in Winnipeg.

In 2024, Coby returned to the RBC Pitch Competition and won with the idea for Cruising in Gomorrah. We talk to the filmmaker about his career, “the perfect pitch” and his latest work.

NEXT WEEK ON QUEERFM 🎙️…

We share an amazing interview with:
ICE THA ONE (she/her/they) is the next sound iteration for a generation that takes ownership over their sexuality, voice, and unapologetic self-expression. Her sound is a blend of Rn’B, Hip-Hop, Jazz, soul with an acoustic backdrop and a captivating stage presence.

She has the ability to throw down bars and then let loose a smooth and sultry R n’ B sound.

For womxn and non-binary folx in the game, Ice stands tall, with enduring strength that is rooted in her inner-city upbringing in the East side of Toronto’s Moss Park.

‘MONSTAR DELUXE’ is Ice’s latest LP with unique singles like ‘Go Go’, ‘Halfway’ and ‘FYF’. Ice has charted nationally, several times via Earshot Canadian Radio for her last two albums, and recent attention from CBC’s ‘Strombo’ show and ‘The Block’ have made singles like ‘Bachelor’ and ‘Albany’ instant classics.
