Q***r FM Vancouver is one of Canada's longest running LGBTTQ2+ radio programs, gratefully broadcasting for over 30 years on the unceded and traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. Hosted/Produced by DJ Denise Fraser and Barb (megamouthmedia) Snelgrove, Q***r FM Van airs Tuesday mornings, repeating the broadcast on Friday at the same time, 8am – 10am (PST) or

ENVI JORDAN (he/him) an emerging q***r pop artist, singer/songwriter and entertainer in Seattle, WA. Born in New York, and raised in Georgia by Caribbean immigrant parents, music and songwriting was his escape and form of self-expression. Envi’s music carries both themes of fantasy and self empowerment, with rhythmic lyrics and danceable beats.

Envi’s debut single “Dreamland (Kirby)” is an infectious house-pop-rap fusion with clever lyrics inspired by Nintendo’s Kirby. This feel-good song carries a message of empowerment, and has been played on radio in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and South Africa since it’s release.

FIELDED (they/them) is a Brooklyn based singer and producer whose music embodies our post-genre musical landscape.

They are unusual; a powerful voice that thrives off vulnerability, a trained musician turned experimental bedroom producer, a poignant R&B singer who might have engineered your favourite rapper’s album.

Fielded is an unsolvable rubik’s cube of pop archetypes and underground sensibilities. Still at its base, their music is that timeless exploration of love and loss, the oldest story there is.

They have performed at The Bass Museum in Miami, The Hamburger Bahnhof and the Guggenheim Museum, to name but a few. In addition to working extensively with rappers and producers on and around the label Backwoodz Studioz, Fielded has started their own label, Universally Handsome.

THIS WEEK IN QUEERSTORY…
May 10, 1904, Dutch cellist, conductor, le***an and anti-Nazi resistance member Frieda Belinfante was born in Amsterdam. During the German occupation, she joined the resistance and began forging documents for people hiding from the N***s and their collaborators.

Along with gay resistance fighter Willem Arondeus Belinfante, she helped plan a successful attack on the Amsterdam population registry which destroyed ID records so that forged papers couldn’t be identified. While the other members of the group were captured and executed, she managed to evade capture by disguising herself as a man, and eventually fleeing to Switzerland with the help of the French resistance.

Belinfante survived the war and lived until the age of 90.
