A river trail can be just as exciting as a mountain trail...

Marble River trail in Port Alice offers a beautiful mossy forest filled with ferns, a waterfall and ends at a turquoise river spot.

And if you can get a birds eye view, you'll see you actually are also surrounded by mountains.

This trail actually surprised me and I look forward to returning some day.

We are entering my favorite season for camping 🏕

Summer's cool and all but off season camping is much more peaceful and wayyyy easier to get a spot too 😄.

My simple SUV camping set up. More details 👇
Not shown in the video:

I keep a lot of stuff stored on the "floor" where your feet would go in the backseat & front passenger seat.

This includes:
*Camping chair
*Shoes
*First aid kit
*Air compressor & tire repair kit
*other miscellaneous camping stuff such as an axe, bear spray, random hiking gear, small day packs, etc
*My kitchen tote perfectly levels out my bed in the backseat by being stored on the floor

And otherwise the 3 separate under the bed style bins hold
*1 for clothes
*1 for toiletries & miscellaneous things I need
*1 for dry food storage

I haven't found the need for any roof top storage yet but certainly would open up some more space.

This is a 2010 Ford Escape btw and I am pretty lucky that the seats lie flat in the back so there's no need for a bed platform or to take out the seats complete (Just the bottom seat cushions get removed temporarily).

Exploring caves by myself in the middle of nowhere...

North Vancouver Island keeps pulling me back because of how remote it feels. Sure, some places have gotten touristy up there but there's tons that haven't.

Still so much to explore up there, most of it being on the FSRs with no cell service. It always feels more adventurous when it involves going further into the backcountry away from most people and services.

There's a couple other caves I want to explore on Vancouver Island too. This was the first cave experience and it was pretty neat to have it all to myself :)
