Coming soon!
Kâul Jaad Kuuyaas is my Haida name and it means Precious Leader Woman.
A year ago I took a leap of faith and let Cassie De Colling and KIDDO tell my story. This leap put me on a course I could have never imagined. I let go of competing, shedding a part of myself I wasnât sure I could let go of and committed myself to filming for the first time in the backcountry. I was more or less sponsorless and coming off of a two year injury. There were points where I literally thought I had lost my mind thinking I could pull this project off and times when I didnât feel worthy to have my story be brought to life. In the process we told my story in a way I could have never foreseen and throughout that I found a part of myself I didnât know was missing.
isnât just a documentary on my life and snowboard career, itâs about my journey in understanding who I am and where I come from. What my Kwakwakaâwakw and Haida heritage means to me and the power it instills. Itâs about an awakening, one thatâs changed my life forever.
I am so grateful to Cassie De Colling Leo Hoorn , Dakota Morton , Leah Nelson, Avis OâBrien, Mack Stannard and Hayley Morin , for their patience, understanding and delicacy in bringing my story to life. The journey wasnât always smooth, but we did it and we did it as a team. G̱ilakasâla, Howâaa to each and every one of you.
will make itâs World Premier at the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival on October.30th through November. 7th.
