We are incredibly excited to announce the addition of the Progress Pride flag crosswalk to our studio lot! The Progress flag provides an opportunity to recognize the unique intersections of identity that exist within LGBTQ2S+ communities. This updated version of the Pride flag was designed by Daniel Quasar in 2018 to visually represent individual identities and how they intersect with one another, recognizing the interconnected struggles.

We look forward to the positive impact this permanent addition will have on our studio.

Yesterday we were able to attend the Creative Industries Week events at the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. We are so fortunate to be able to meet with our government officials, as well as have the opportunity to connect with other creative industry professionals, to talk about the challenges effecting our industries today and discuss what we can to do support each other better in the coming years. Thank you to the for organizing this year's - we are looking forward to many more in-person events in the future to connect and keep communications open between our industry and the government of BC.

Here, we continue to be transparent and take accountability in our successes and failures of our social, environmental and economic actions in 2021. We encourage all of our customers, suppliers, shareholders, government bodies, and other stakeholders to read this report and be a catalyst for conversation and further action, within the film industry, and beyond. 🎬🌍

Happy Earth Day 2022!🌎

Today we are celebrating with the installation of our 🌱Sedum Roof on our brand new offices!

What is a sedum roof? Well, let’s tell you! A sedum roof is a green roof system containing 12 to 16 varieties of succulents that upon installation will provide 85% coverage of the roof. Not only will this allow for a longer lifespan of the roofing, but it provides a sustainable living environment, encourages biodiversity, retains rain water, regulates temperate, absorbs CO2 and fine particles….the list goes on and on!

We’re beyond excited to have this addition to our lot and hope this will inspire others to look at the ways we can all be a little more sustainably minded!

Happy Earth Day everyone🌿🌎

It's our one-year anniversary of being a Certified B Corporation and as B Corp Month comes to a close this week, we thought we'd share some words about our B Corp journey from our President, Pete Mitchell.

“The first anniversary of our becoming a Certified B Corp is an opportunity for us to reflect on how we are doing at contributing to sustainability, racial equity and a stakeholder driven economic system. There are things to be proud of: opening the first certified LEED Gold soundstage in Canada, launching the Vancouver Film Studios Indigenous Filmmaker Bursary and enjoying honey from beehives located on our studio lot. While I write, our new solar array is generating 78 kW of power and will be doing so, more or less depending on the weather, for the next 30 years. There are many questions too: are we truly an equitable employer?, are we contributing to systemic racism?, are we doing enough to reduce our carbon impact? We look forward, with the help of B Lab, to delving into these issues and contributing to an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economic system for all people and the planet.”
