We are so excited to feature our talented neighbour Kevin Yee in Issue 22 of River District Living Magazine - here is just a little bit of the full article and please don’t miss Kevin’s important call to action at the end 🧶❤️❄️ Thank you Kevin for your inspiration, designs, and whimsy!

Crafting content creator was never a part of my plan, especially after a lifetime in show business that spanned record deals, dancing on Broadway stages, and writing for award winning TV shows. But the world shifts fast nowadays, as what we once knew to be a sure thing becomes as reliable as the rotting wooden planks on the Kerr Street pier.

While it’s easy to dismiss crafting as something for children, the benefits to one’s mental health and physical dexterity cannot be understated. But now as my pile of crafting masterpieces grows, I’ve finally learned that perfection isn’t the goal. Perfection is boring. It’s about igniting my middle aged adult whimsy.

In a world that can sometimes feel monotone and monotonous, why not create a little colour? We have so little control over so many things, but we could have control over our own whimsy. Creating art is taking back ownership of your life.

A special call to action for our neighbours:

Crafters, unite for charity! Between September 1 and October 23, Boketto is accepting donated newly handmade winter hats for the Lookout Society, a Vancouver charity who will distribute them to those in need. Warm cozy hats can be crochet, knitted, or sewn, but please make them with easily machine washable materials. And when you drop your creations off, Boketto will give you 10% off one drink! Let’s turn our crafting into love, and show those who need it this winter that the River District cares!

📷 photos, designs, and words Kevin Yee

Winter hats can be dropped off Boketto Dessert Cafe thank you to all who take part and to Kevin Yee Boketto Dessert Cafe and Lookout Housing+Health Society ❤️

Back on the Fraser River North Arm trail today, soaking up a gorgeous sunny day and a crisp river breeze on those newly completed upgraded paths by Wesgroup Properties. ☀️

Instead of sitting on the wooden blocks like regular humans are supposed to do, I have officially claimed them as my personal fashion runway, concert stage, and victory podium. 🕺

Of course, the scenic river backdrop is partially blocked right now because Dad refuses to move around to the right angle, leaving me framed against a glorious multi-decade construction nightmare of future concrete jungles. 🌲

Let us just pray these nice wooden seating blocks do not turn into a makeshift homeless camp before the rest of this neighborhood actually finishes building out over the next thirty years. ⛺️

Consider this your official Wednesday wisdom from a thirteen-year-old schnauzer: always treat your surroundings like your own personal runway, even if your staging area is surrounded by active industrial development. 🌇

Some apartment buildings are just a place to live. Others become part of the neighbourhood, creating their own sense of community, and Fraser Flats is definitely one of them! We are excited to feature CAPREIT/Fraser Flats in Issue 20 of River District Living Magazine 💙

Set in the heart of the River District in South Vancouver, a morning coffee, a walk or bike ride along the Fraser River, or a quick trip to pick up groceries become part of the daily routine. Everything is within easy walking distance, including cafés, restaurants, shops, and everyday essentials.

Residents also have access to a two-level clubhouse with a fitness centre, sauna, and party room, making it easy to stay active, host friends, or simply relax close to home. There is a playground for children on site, as well as a public playground right next door. And because Fraser Flats is pet-friendly, pet family members are very welcome at Fraser Flats and poo bags and waste bins are available on the property to keep things tidy!

One thing that comes up again and again in resident reviews is the sense of community. People talk about friendly neighbours, a management team that’s responsive and genuinely cares, and a building that’s clean, well maintained, and welcoming. Residents enjoy special appreciation events which have included a Summer BBQ, Holiday Party, and sweet treats on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. It’s the kind of place where people move in for the location but stay because it feels like home.

If you’re searching for a pet-friendly rental in the River District, Fraser Flats is definitely worth exploring!

Happy Second Birthday, Mei! 🎉🎂❤️🐾🎾
We are thrilled to feature you (with a special cameo by your cat siblings) in Issue 20 of

Mei is a two-year-old Shiba Inu girl with a mischievous and playful personality. She became part of the family on the 21st night of September, a date we’ll always remember thanks to Earth, Wind & Fire.

Mei is full of energy and curiosity. She loves to chew things, whether it’s a squeaky toy, a bone or, occasionally, something she’s not supposed to… like the leg of a chair or the TV remote. With Mei, there’s no such thing as “indestructible”.

At home, Mei lives with her human parents and two cat siblings, Bubz and Nancy. Mei is always eager to play with them, but, unfortunately for her, the feeling isn’t mutual. Bubz and Nancy prefer a calm environment and usually keep their distance from Mei’s high-energy antics. That doesn’t stop her from trying, though.

Independent but affectionate, alert but playful, Mei has become a beloved part of our lives. Whether she’s making us laugh with her antics or curling up on the couch for a quiet moment, she gives us joy and love every day.

Follow Mei .the.sheeb 💕
