truth: Every new spot I surf, I hire a local guide to show me the break. I do this to help ease my nerves in unknown waters (too many close calls).
lazy truth: since having a baby, I’ve gone on three separate surf trips where I’ve hired local guides to show me around. The waves on these trips (Noosa, San Diego, Punta Mita) often happened to be super fat and super mild. Meaning, hard to paddle to catch on a shorter board. Meaning, I’ve needed help.
these guys have often been the extra push to literally help me catch a wave. I call it VIP surfing. You might call it lazy surfing. Whatever. I’m not above the extra push. Because it’s meant that I’ve been able to sit on some pretty special breaks, and catch some sweet as rides.
Also, just bought an e-bike and am absolutely loving it, taking bebe girl to and from daycare.
moral of the story: Sometimes you just need an extra little push, ya know? And that’s totally cool too.
