It is only just the start of this month, but we are busting to share what next month is bringing with the Vancouver International Film Festival as part of the VIFFLive program: "Oscar Peterson Centenary Tribute: Triology Plays Peterson" on Saturday 16 August 2025 at 7:30pm. Tickets are available now.

Triology (Jodi Proznick, Bill C**n and Miles Black) will be followed by a screening of the 1978 Canadian thriller "The Silent Partner" featuring Peterson leading a septet performing his original soundtrack, and "Begone Dull Care" the 1949 Norman McLaren and Evelyn Lambart animation with a young Oscar Peterson at the keyboard.

Celebrates Oscar Peterson's centenary with an evening of Canadian jazz and film. Triology — Jodi Proznick (bass), Bill C**n (guitar) and Miles Black (piano) — pays tribute to the legendary Oscar Peterson, followed by cult thriller The Silent Partner.

The doors are opening and the band is getting ready to take the stage at the Vancouver International Film Festival for VIFF Live with the Mike Braverman Sextet playing the music of Duke Ellington followed by screenings of shorts featuring Ellington’s music. We get underway at 2:00pm. Still a few tickets available.

What a night. What a performance. What a band. We send the most thanks we could possibly muster to everyone who chose to gather together at the Evergreen Cultural Centre last night and to the Fred Stride Jazz Orchestra for sharing this music with us.

TONIGHT Friday 6 December 2024 at 7:30 pm at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam catch the Fred Stride Jazz Orchestra performing "The Nutcracker Suite", and other songs of the season.

Take in the "Russian Dance" with the Ellington/Strayhorn treatment as "The Volga Vouty" in their arrangement of Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker".
