Please join us for the opening of ๐˜Œ๐˜ฏ ๐˜™๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ: ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฃ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฎ๐˜ด ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ต ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ๐˜ถ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ on Thursday, September 11 at 6pm.

With contributions from the ECU Outreach Program (1979 -1984), Ian Wallace, Laiwan, the 2014 Kamias Triennial, Avenue (165 E. Hastings) and Duplex (4277 and 4257 Fraser Street), and Moniker Press.

Beginning in the Emily Carr University Archives, this exhibition takes inspiration from a period from 1979 โ€“ 1984, when a now-legendary Outreach Program at ECU was most active. Presented alongside these programs is the work of ECU faculty, alumni, and community members whose work embodies themes of expanded learning beyond the classroom.

These histories and practices explore the significance of artist-led classrooms and informal learning environments and the impacts and legacies they have had across communities. ๐˜Œ๐˜ฏ ๐˜™๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ is above all a celebration of the possibilities of a porous classroom, and the many ways artists have experimented with the form through practices of mutual support, space creation, and radical dissemination.
