This week we’re taking you back to the Vancouver International Wine Festival where we sat down with Leah Adint, winemaker at in Oregon, about the art and science of Pinot Noir. Leah explains how Oregon’s dramatic topography shapes flavour, why clones matter (think: apples for baking vs. apples for snacking), and what makes her 2019 blend a standout. She also reveals how tasting every barrel (more than once) helps her capture the story of a vintage. Tune in August 1-4 for the full conversation.

This week, we’re sitting down with David Lawrason, Wine Director at , about the top-scoring Canadian wines of the year. He breaks down how the Platinum Awards work at the National Wine Awards— only 31 wines made the cut, just under 2% of entries. Wines are blind-tasted, judged without knowing the region or price, and some standouts were under $30. We also talk about the growing consistency in Canadian winemaking, why 40–50-year-old vines are hitting their prime, and why Canadian wines do age well.Tune in August 1-4 to find out which of the winners stood out!
