Penguin's Wanderlust

Penguin's Wanderlust Penguin travels to see nature and art. Burner culture originating from the Black Rock Desert's Burning Man Festival is permeating the international world.

Participants come from far flung places. They take the culture home with them and regional events are popping up everywhere. I am writing a series of travel books each centering on a regional Burning Man event and the travel around it. The book about the New Orleans burn (T-Bois Blues Festival and NOLA Burning Village) and also driving an RV north to Vancouver Island is called Cloud Shadows. Islan

d to Island is about travelling from Vancouver Island to the British Isles and then to the Swedish Island of Gotland for the Scandinavian burn called The Borderland. The most recent road trip will be detailed in Salt. It will cover the Los Angeles burn (BEquinox) and five weeks of sightseeing all the way to Texas and back to Vancouver Island. This page and its associated web site will be logging Penguin's adventures.

Penguin & Penny at Manning Park. There was still some snow around the picnic tables but the picnic jays (aka steller) were looking for handouts. A lady put her coffee and a crumpled up paper snack bag on top of her car’s roof. A big gull swooped in and grabbed the bag. It was disappointed after tearing it apart to not find any food.

We helped at the Rocky Point Bird Observatory bird banding course on the weekend. There were lots of samples. We took the course during Covid so there was no hands on portion. So it was cool seeing all the bird samples. This is a Bonaparte Gull with Penguin and Penny. It’s a small gull.
