😢 Each time they give birth, their babies are taken from them. The females are raised to suffer the same fate as their mothers. The males are locked away in tiny veal crates and killed after a few months.
The mothers are forcibly impregnated, over and over again, because they don’t produce milk if they are not pregnant. Their bodies are pushed to the limit — producing ten times more milk than their ancestors ever did.
Three times a day, they’re hooked up to machines. Their milk is stolen. ⅓ develop mastitis, a painful udder disease.
This cycle of violence continues until their bodies break down — often before they’ve even lived a fifth of their natural lifespan (20 years).
When they can no longer produce enough milk, at around 5 years of age, they are sent to the slaughterhouse. Many are still pregnant. Their bodies are used for low-grade meat or pet food.
