There is an endless chattering of sound out there.

An endless stream of opinions, expectations, and desires.

A million turns to take and directions to face.

And if our feet are not rooted in the ground,

if we are not attuned to the steady beating of our own heart,

we will quickly and surely find ourselves lost at sea.

The world will spin and turn and swirl in chaos around us.

This is the uncontrollable truth of the human experience.

Whether or not we get lost within it,

is entirely up to us.

The call of our hearts is not logical.

It often leaves us facing a direction with a foggy path.

One where we cannot see, or even guess, what lies ahead.

But when we pledge allegiance to our hearts,

we are pledging allegiance to the most powerful force in existence.

Love.

And even though the path may be unclear,

and the steps along it scary and unsure,

we know we can trust it.

Not a knowing born of the mind.

But a knowing that rests deep in our bones.

I pledge allegiance to my heart.

Its resonance is my compass.

And each resounding beat,

the song that calls me home.

There is a visceral release in the question…

What if you just fully accepted all of it?

If you are falling apart, surrender to the fall.

If you are afraid, soften to the fear.

If you are overwhelmed, meet yourself there.

There is alchemy in acceptance.

There is release.

There is liberation.

All any of these emotions, anxiety, overwhelm, emptiness, loneliness, frustration is trying to do, is move through us.

The more we resist them, the longer they sit at our doorstep.

They sit there holding little gifts of wisdom in their hands.

Gifts they are meant to give you.

Gifts that will help move you along.

But first, you have to open the door.

First, you have to let them in.

Life is a dance between being human and embodying spirit.

Of remembering where home is,

and trying to be at home where we are now.

We spin and twirl and touch noses as we dip in and out of connection.

Reaching for those moments when it feels as if we are one.

As if we have melted the matter of human, and the magic of soul together.

Fully embodied and nowhere but where we are now.

Fully present.

Fully immersed in flow.

And the deeper we sink into our bodies,

the more we feel the music without hearing it.

The more we can be both at home in our bodies,

and immersed in the vast expanse of the universe.

All at the same time.

So breathe.

Sink deeply and slowly into every cell of your body.

Feel the space open up in front of you.

Before you know it,

you’ll feel the undeniable presence of your soul fall softly into your arms.

And you won’t be able to help but dance.

The process of unthawing is innately slow.

When we unthaw we are going from frozen to unfolded.

Contracted to expanding.

This is a process that benefits from slowness.

It needs slowness.

Speed it up and you will expose your delicate new growth to the cold winter air

far before the spring sun has arrived.

It’s ok to take your time.

The human is slow, the soul understands this.

The soul needs this.

There are pieces to the process.

Pieces to collect and integrate.

Understandings and gifts we are meant to receive.

Realizations and dreams we are fated to hear.

So go slow sweet soul.

Let yourself unthaw naturally and gracefully.

Stretch your legs,

flutter your eyes awake,

and let the rising spring sun meet you when the time is right.

Because it will rise.

And it will meet you.

You can trust in the certainty of that.

You were born worthy.

You will die worthy.

And everything that has ever told you different,

was nothing but a story marketed as truth.

But the truth always stands.

You can hide it, silence it, and try to forget it,

but in the end, it will stand.

It will shine through all of it.

Just as you will.

Until you make any decisions about who you are and what you’re doing,

wait until you are sitting firmly in the seat of your soul.

Until your nervous system is settled and still.

It’s the difference between looking into the calm and glassy waters at dawn,

vs the chaotic and choppy waters of mid-day.

One you will see clearly to the bottom,

and other you will see nothing but the chaos on the surface.

Wait until your waters are calm.

Wait until you can see the bottom.

Wait until you can see yourself.

Then choose.

Is there ever a sure step?

A step where we know with 100% certainty it’s the right step?

How can we?

Because we never know what’s coming.

We can never be completely sure.

Every step is made of faith just as much as it is made of courage.

We will never know if it’s the right time or the right direction for sure.

But what we can know, is the soothing sound of our steady inner-knowing.

The one that taps us gently on the shoulder and says “this way love.”

The one that waits patiently while we ignore its calls.

The one that was here with us when we arrived,

and will be with us as we draw our last breath.

It’s not rooted in logic, because its wisdom is born of the soul.

And if there ever was something to put our blind trust in,

the loving voice of our inner-knowing,

would be it.
