Northern Health and First Nations Health Authority have issued a Toxic Drug Alert for Dawson Creek. A blue "rock chunk" substance sold as “heroin” has been linked to an increase of overdose events. This substance is highly toxic, causes heavy and prolonged sedation, and requires more naloxone to reverse. Overdoses happen when the substance is smoked and/or injected.
